There will come a day when immigrants are courted and encouraged to relocate in America. It won't be hard, although getting the right kind immigrants may be a challenge.

The world wide fertility rate continues to fall. In China, for example, the reported birth rate of 1.3 is at an historic low, and Chinese officials are worried. China’s new births are likely to fall below 10 million in the next few years, with a fertility rate lower than Japan’s and perhaps the lowest in the world, according to this article.

For an interesting discussion, Google up "China Demographic Time Bomb" and read some of the numerous articles. Most of them discuss the problems that are coming with an aging and shrinking population.
America remains the destination of choice for desperate people. We should hope it remains the destination of choice for ambitious, hard working people, too.

Ironically you point out a big issue. WHY do people learn things? Spend the time to understand how things work, and go into engineering? Yeah we enjoy it....but its also the expectation of income on the other side.

When we bring in all the foreign tech workers on visas, or allow them to enter our country-they come from someplace where they often got their education for free. And the incomes here are so much higher...that it depresses the income for these jobs.

Its a more complex problem then you think.

With automation we don't need more people. We'll just have more people on the public dole. We need to educate the people we already have to be useful to society besides some sort of manual labor.

China's population and the US population have both doubled in the last 60 years, the world population more than doubled. We dont need to continue at this rate.
