I think it should be More, Considering they risk their lives Daily.

“Some want to defund the police, we’re funding the police and then some,” DeSantis added while praising the first responders who have continued to work during the coronavirus pandemic without the luxury of being able to work from home.

ahh yes, buying off the police force so they will support your authoritarian views. a classic tactic.

But the other side of it is.....yup. They went to work every day-just like everyone else for the most part. Is he giving money to fast food workers? How about doctors? Nurses?

Nope. Hes funding the folks with guns that he wants to support him.

Plenty of more dangerous jobs in America, being a cop isn't in the top 20. Should we give them all $1000?

Sounds like a government hand out to me.

How is DeSantis authoritarian? Because he won't let people commit continual insurrection like Portland or take over city blocks like in Seattle? Or is his authoritarian, because you have freedom of choice for masks?

Whitmer gave teachers $500. I didn't have to do crap the last 3 months of school last year and have had an easier remote schedule this year. Was Whitmer just bribing the teacher's union? Why didn't grocery store clerks get that bonus first?

What is wrong with supporting police? He is right, they haven't had the luxury of working form home, they have been on the front lines. If we are going to hold them accountable, we must also give them praise when due. Many other frontline workers received covid pay, why are you against it for police?

I actually agree, but give it to other people who haven't had the luxury of working from home too.

I think the defunding of police is more to do with huge spending on military style equipment, armored vehicles, the creeping militarization of the police. The average police officer in FL deserves a raise, FL has some low wages.

Im against individuals doing it in such a way as to promote loyalty to them.

Give them a raise, something that matters. But a one time 1K? Feels more like bribery. History is FULL of examples of this, where money paid to police and military is designed to make them respond more positively to that politicians actions against the populations interests.
