There is no “labor shortage”!!!
There is a huge labor shortage, you must not do much hiring. Just a about every business around me is looking for employees, many have had to close early and reduce hours (reason give, staff shortages).

I booked last October to have some stabilization piers installed on a foundation. Job was scheduled for April and delayed over and over again until finally it was done last week. Why? They used to a have a crew of 12. Now they have four. Why? And I quote, “nobody wants to come back to work even with pay increases, they’d rather stay home and collect unemployment.”

I need a foundation poured as well. Work also scheduled last October to be done this past April. No foundation yet and contractor said maybe next year. Why? Lack of help. Hire someone else? Same story. I may have to wait until next year to get a foundation poured.

My asphalt company just went out of business. Why? Can’t find workers. Couldn’t find a buyer for the company either. Why? According to him it’s because nobody wants to work. AC contractor way booked up. Why? We can’t find any qualified workers or even anyone to train who would meet our standards.

Every single trade I’ve spoken to has the same complaint, nobody wants to work and in most cases one man can’t do the job. These are the trades. Restaurants, home improvement stores, grocery stores etc…all have the same problem.

So we don’t have enough people wanting to work. Except we do, if they’re not here legally, make them legal and let them work legally. Many are working already and pay billions of dollars each year in taxes. Stop making it so hard for them and so hard for employers to stay in business. Stop rewarding sloth.

I don't know where you are getting your stats as you provided no link to your claim. It could be but I seriously doubt that over 50% of businesses hire illegal aliens "knowingly".

I do however agree with you that no matter what, illegal aliens have a negative impact on employment opportunities for Americans and they do cost us over $100 billion a year. There are so many other negatives involved to such as the over crowded conditions that they cause and the further depletion of our social and natural resources. Increase in crime is another factor.

If it were in my power to raise wages and increase visas I would gladly do so. And I support mandatory e-verify. So we’re on the same page.

In my area, places desperate for workers are at fast food joints, restaurant chains, big box stores, warehouses, and grocery stores. Some casinos in my area are offering a 1k bonus.

We might get to learn about "trickle up" economics.

i.e., the business owner cannot find employees and does not make money. So he takes advantage of the CARES Act which allows him to forgo his mortgage payment for as long as a year.
Finally, his year is up, but his business has still not recovered and he still cannot make his mortgage payment.
So the bank forecloses on his house.

That is expected to happen 2.5M times during the next few months. It will result in an excess of listed and foreclosed houses. There will be trouble.

You can raise the pay all you want. The work remains the same. Raise the pay all you want. The same conditions exist at the higher wage, as was at the lower wage. Think those people would still work for $20 an hour, right off the street, in those conditions, in some factories?

People need to open their eyes. We've made too easy for our citizens not to work, that's why they're here. Can't blame them.

In my area, I've been to fast foods, restaurants and big box stores and they don't seem too short handed to be. They have served me promptly. However, I haven't been to any of the area casinos, such as Cimarron.
