The Govt cracked down on 'Big pharma' though...they threw a wrench into a $30Billion year industry (prescription painkillers)!!!

Certainly doesnt appear like 'big pharma' is very powerful...I wonder what the pharma shareholders thought of the new Govt restrictions? LOL

It’s not just that. Western medicine and culture in general tends to discount natural drugs or criminalize them while at the same time pushing lab created drugs in medicine.

Researchers have had success using psilocybin to treat PTSD:

MDMA-assisted therapy for severe PTSD: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 study

Quote:
These data indicate that, compared with manualized therapy with inactive placebo, MDMA-assisted therapy is highly efficacious in individuals with severe PTSD, and treatment is safe and well-tolerated, even in those with comorbidities.
In that context it certainly makes a lot of sense to allow medical use of psilocybin in combination with therapy.

The First Phase 3 Success for Psychedelics Will Pave the Way for an Industry

We'll just need to keep a close eye on the industry so we don't get a repeat of the Oxycontin marketing disaster.

psychedelic mushrooms aren't addictive.
I'm not seeing the problem here.

That crackdown on prescription painkillers led to a HUGE increase in Heroin use too...I believe the Govt 'got rid of the competition' for the drug cartels...lots of addicts in those days were going to doctors, pill mills, ERs to get their daily fix, and not the corner drug dealer.

Mushrooms are messy, difficult to judge dosage etc.

If you're going to go hallucinogenics, might as well do it right and go LSD.

Trippindicular dude....

I support any research into new treatments for depression. A certain percentage of people are resistant to anti depressants and have turned to all sorts of alternative treatments such as deep brain stimulation, hypnosis, etc. Some will drink themselves to death.

Just because something is prescribed doesn’t make it safer. Addiction to pain killers ruins many lives.

Its funny seeing the nonsense on this thread about how addictive OTHER things are. Mushrooms are not addictive.

The science says that they help with PTSD especially well.

I wish some folks would argue based on reality instead of the nonsense I see in this thread.
