Today the right number is 5, provided those 5 are on the Security Council. In 1783, the right number was 1, so long as that 1 was the UK. You see how this is very fact specific and up for interpretation?
It's not a fact at all.
The USA recognizes July 4, 1776 as its founding. If you disagree, take it up with Joe Biden.
I believe 1776 is the correct date for the de facto independence of the USA, as this was the year that the American people’s self elected representatives in the continental congress began voting to have the country act against the interests of the British Crown, thereby becoming disloyal subjects and effectively terminating Britain’s control over the colonies.

The right ones. Is Kosovo a country? USA, France, and UK say yes. Russia and China say no. Its status remains unclear.
Which is to further show how pedantic this conversation is. USA was founded on July 4, 1776, but if they lost the war, then that wouldn't be the date. King George recognized the USA on September 3, 1783, and from that date on there was no doubt that the USA was a country. Sounds like an "official" day to me, but you disagree, and neither of us are really wrong.
He's already agreed that declaring something doesn't make it a fact.
Yes... 1783
He probably thinks Magellan sailed around the globe too.

Even though Magellan didn’t make it all the way, the fact that it was his expedition and wouldn’t have happened without him is the reason he still gets the majority of the credit for that accomplishment.

My wife's people disagree.
Lapu Lapu needs to get more credit for his fight against the colonizers.
You're in the minority. You can think what you want, but the government of the USA and most historians disagree with you.
Sorry.
Yes, Caitlyn agrees with you too.
