I didn't know the CEO of Colonial was an old fool. How old is he?

This was a hack of Colonial's billing, not the physical structure.

A few thoughts. We have much technical knowledge in the U.S. It does not seem impossible to be able to back trace data threats to indicate where and by whom the threat originated. Although most tech companies are privately owned the feds. have the power to require companies to aid the country in cases of national security--which this is.

No, I don't think colonial should have paid a ransom even if it was a better choice for some good reasons. I would have gone for a slower yet more positive restoration of supplies--they had other choices.

I would make it understood to other countries that they will be held accountable for failure to pursue cybercrime and in the meantime allow us to do so within their borders.

I would attempt to make the extorters of the pipe line an example. If we can find and deal with bin laden and hussein we should probably deal them the same fate.

By recognizing, finding, and dealing capital punishment to the extortionist we can prevent security crisis.
Hardening our data systems can be done inexpensively with help from our tech companies. This is a national security issue and it must be dealt with swiftly.

Because any thing that happens is the current Administrations fault in their eyes...
But you are correct it is a private company and like most of the Petroleum industry they don't invest in themselves to update their systems.

Colonial wasn't the firs to be hit with ransomware, there are hundred of attacks and many companies don't even report them nor are they required. They have hit hospitals, schools, government agencies, many don't want to advertise their failure. We need to go after these countries where these hackers exist such as Russia and other nearby countries. This is nothing new, been happening for years.

Seems like $5 Million might be cheap considering the downside but we need to respond.

Are you surprised? Biden and Democrats are actively working to harm this country, to kill US jobs, to punish American companies and businesses. That is what they campaigned on-and for once they are delivering on their campaign promises. The "Put America Last" party is delivering as they said they would, harming this country and enabling our enemies and competitors.

It sure looks that way. We spread Billions around the world, money we do not have that would be better off spent here, and for what? Are we trying to buy friends?

The Democrats want to bury America in regulations and nonsense policies. The climate crisis is such a hoax but they are closing coal plants and stopping pipe lines in favor of renewable energies while pushing us all towards expensive electric cars that actually have a big carbon footprint.

The Dems would tear down forests of carbon collecting trees to put up solar panels to offset the carbon output of fossil fuels ?

To the Dems,

Covid is a a political weapon.
The Police are a bunch of trigger happy racists.
Law and order is just a tired old notion.
Criminals are misunderstood.
Israel is the enemy.
Trump supporting Patriotic American Loving Freedom Loving citizens that admired his MAGA are nothing but brainwashed knuckle dragging Neanderthals. What was so wrong about making America First?

Biden loves China, Biden Loves Russia and America can take the backseat.
