Cheney: 'No question' another attack like Jan. 6, or worse, can occur due to election fraud claims

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) on Sunday said there is “no question” that another attack like the one that took place on Jan. 6, or an even worse assault, is possible as a result of repeated unproven claims that President Trump lost the 2020 election due to election fraud.

Cheney said on ABC's “This Week" that the House Republicans' decision to replace her in leadership with someone who supports the false claims is “dangerous.”

“We have to recognize how quickly things can unravel. We have to recognize what it means for the nation to have a former president who has not conceded and who continues to suggest that our electoral system cannot function, cannot do the will of the people,” Cheney continued.

When pressed by host Jon Karl on what she meant by “dangerous,” and if she was suggesting that another Jan. 6, or something worse, could happen, Cheney said, “I think there’s no question.”

They will tell you what they are afraid of.

So now we are extrapolating the Jan. 6th event to use as leverage towards fear of the election audits - which she says are "unproven".

Elections audits now mean violence and insurrection. That's the bridge they are trying to build... even though there was very little violence and the insurrection is a narrative more than anything else.

If Biden won fair and square, they should just let the GOP spin their wheels, the claims would be false, and life would go on. Dominion should give up any passwords in the spirit of honesty. What's the big deal? Biden got 81 million votes right?

It's one thing to cheat....quite another to, as a government office holder, term it "dangerous" to question or investigate election integrity and fraud.

She is an enemy of freedom, an enemy of the American people, a traitor without ethical boundary in carrying out her personal vendetta.

We're just about out of numbers for the things we thought we'd never see.

She’s a liar, a paid hack.

I don’t blame her, Trump went after her father, basically called him an idiot for what he and Bush the Younger did in the Middle East, which was botch the entire region. Obama poured gasoline on everything, but the initial damage was done by Bush/Cheney.

But getting back to Liz, I refuse to trust a word she says, and I don’t want to be in the same party with her. I think she’s better suited to be a corporate Democrat anyway.

She is trying to keep the GOP from driving over a cliff.....which these sham audits are doing.

You don't blame her? Pity....could have been a good post.

Nope

People who dislike the GOP will do so regardless of the audits.

What's the cliff at the end of the election audits?

You cannot call what’s happening in Arizona an audit.

They have no idea what they are doing. Looking for bamboo? Seriously?

The other audits were in line with the law - and were completed long before the deadline.

This is just theater, people.

By Fascists... who want to control the narrative.

Political parties survive by expanding their voters....not just solidifying their base and that's it. Outside of Trump World these audits are a sham. Especially Arizona which is a clown show. It's not just Liz Cheney outlining the consequences, the traditional conservative media such as the Murdoch owned Wall Street Journal Editorial Board are issuing warnings about the Mad Hatter that is pushing this narrative. These audits are appeasing the fringe at the expense of making a case against Biden. The audits are coming across as Bat S*** Crazy.

In Donald Trump’s Purgatory
Ousting Liz Cheney doesn’t end the GOP’s 2022 election problems.

But the GOP problem is less that Ms. Cheney won’t let Mr. Trump go than that Mr. Trump won’t let 2020 go. He can’t accept that he lost, so he’s busy rewriting history to convince everyone he was cheated. He’s making that claim a litmus test for GOP leaders or for candidates who want his endorsement.

That may please the Trump base but it won’t appeal to the swing voters the GOP needs to retake the House and Senate. Mr. Trump’s claim that he was cheated in November is the main reason the GOP lost two Georgia Senate seats in the Jan. 5 runoff. Trump voters stayed home after Mr. Trump told them their votes didn’t count. The pre-election polling and voter turnout couldn’t be clearer about this. Joe Biden’s agenda would be stalled now if Mr. Trump had put the party first after his defeat.

ummm... if you really want to talk about controlling narratives, you may want to look at who runs the majority of news outlets.

China. Liberal elites.

I'm not worried about political parties. To me the numbers don't make sense. They never will make sense. When Obama got elected in 2008, he generated energy from both sides and there were around 130 million total people that voted. Biden didn't even run an election campaign and had virtually no energy, and between 155 and 160 million people voted in 2020. That large increase in number does not compute in reality.

If the audit is about nothing, then let it run its course. For some reason, Cheney has ramped up the rhetoric and is drawing more attention to the audit.

These are not audits. An audit is independent and not conducted by partisan factions with a predetermined goal. They are an attempt to undermine confidence in the election in a base and to get them riled up.

The GOP wants to move forward, or so it says; in reality it doesn't.
