If you're going to pretend you know what HIPAA is, at least spell it correctly!
Also, you're wrong. Businesses asking to see proof of vaccination has zero to do with HIPAA, which is about what insurance companies and medical providers can disclose.
The stores in California are offering two options for patrons who would like to shop maskless: Option 1: present either a vaccine card or a photo of your vaccine card on your phone where the name matches your ID or Option 2: either be a BIPOC or wear a garmet with the BLM motto on it (hat, t-shirt, jewerly or even a BLM bag will do). If you don't have either one on you, you must wear a mask.

And this is easy to skirt anyway. There are PDFs of blank vaccine cards online. Download one, print it on card stock, grab one of the thousands of images of filled out vaccine cards online posted on the Grahm and book of faces by the sheep that got poked and use that Info to fill in your blank card. Boom. You are now “vaccinated” and free to go maskless. Easy as pie.
Hell, just snag a pic off the net of someone else’s vaccine card and save it on your phone to show as proof.
It's not a HIPAA violation. HIPAA applies to medical providers who cannot disclose your medical history to anyone without your approval.
In this case, it's the business asking. You can say no and be refused service or show your card and move on with life without a giant hair across you anus.
That's interesting. Here in Texas they just announced that restaurant workers/bartenders can be maskless. I was told by a bartender that the employer cannot ask if they are vaccinated or not, HIPPA violation.
