People always knew we weren't descended from monkeys. Years and years ago. It was always a lie.

It's about time "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life" was debunked.

Freud is next. Except he already has been.

His theory was not "debunked". In science it's called "disproven".
No, they are calling him racist but no one has done any scientific work to come up with a new theory that disproves his theory.

The OP's article is an editorial written by a college professor.

Meanwhile, you can buy tickets to this.

Because whether the talent was musical or scientific, you can't forgive backwards views from over 100 years ago....but you can sure enjoy a TRIBUTE concert to a child molester from your lifetime.

Say it together, now: "Common ancestor."

Go for it. If you can disprove speciation through inheritance of traits that are selected for, I imagine there's a Nobel Prize waiting for you.

The challenge being, of course, that we can observe it happening. And that every piece of evidence we find in nature supports the theory. There have been tweaks, of course - acquired traits aren't inherited, as Darwin thought might be the case.

The last I read our DNA is related to the Great Apes; you're right, not monkeys.

Only racists can believe anything written by a man who believes in "favoured races." If that's not racist I'd like to know what is.

His Twitter should be suspended pending an inquiry.

Slavery has never been limited only to black people. During early America, most of the blacks who came were indentured servants. The first true slave in the United States was named John Casor, who was owned by Anthony Johnson, a black man.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slaver...rst_slave_laws

Native-Americans were also enslaved, and enslaved each other.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slaver..._United_States

Whites were indentured servants, and in many cases were forced into servitude and transported across the ocean, where their contracts were then sold to the highest bidder. These contracts could even be extended for life under certain circumstances.

In the early years, the main justification for slavery was not race, but religion. Blacks and natives weren't Christians. It was only after they became Christians that the focus shift towards race. But even still it wasn't so much a sense of genetic inferiority, but rather otherness.

For instance, the main reason that the southern people supported slavery in 1860(and I don't mean the government/elites/planters), was that they were fearful of what would happen if the slaves were freed. In the Deep South, blacks often outnumbered whites, and the whites believed blacks would basically do to them what is now happening in South Africa, but worse.

Ironically, a major reason whites were so infuriated by slavery, was what they saw as "white slaves". Many slaves on these plantations were half, three-fourths, and seven-eights white. Sometimes they looked purely white. For instance, Sally Hemings, who lived on Thomas Jefferson's plantation, was 3/4ths white. Her children were 7/8ths white. They probably looked whiter than me(and Spaniards, Greeks, Italians, etc).

In fact, one of the main justifications for slavery was that the blacks in Africa were basically uncivilized, and that slavery was civilizing them. Robert E. Lee said...

https://encyclopediavirginia.org/ent...ember-27-1856/

"In this enlightened age, there are few I believe, but what will acknowledge, that slavery as an institution is a moral and political evil in any Country. It is useless to expatiate on its disadvantages. I think it however a greater evil to the white than to the black race, and while my feelings are strongly interested in behalf of the latter, my sympathies are more strong for the former. The blacks are immeasurably better off here than in Africa, morally, socially, and physically."

The idea that blacks were an inferior race ran contrary to Christian beliefs. To Christians all men were made in the image of god. Which is also why they reject evolution. The Christian apology for slavery was actually that all human groups/tribes are descended from Noah after the flood. And that blacks were Canaanites, and had the Curse of Ham. Making them the "servants of servants".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curse_of_Ham

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage...27&version=KJV

In early America there had been a big push to end slavery. There were hundreds of thousands of freed slaves by the time of the Civil War. And while there was racism towards them, there was racism between everyone. There was a time when there was more racism towards Asians than blacks. A Norwegian didn't eat lunch with a Swede. And Benjamin Franklin didn't even think the French and most Germans were white.

Scientific racism pushed racism to a whole new level. It didn't make nonsensical claims about blacks being descended from a different son of Noah, but that blacks were effectively the missing-link. Somewhere between man and beast. That sentiment more-or-less carried over until WWII, then the social-scientists successfully pushed the kind of black slate thesis of nurture vs nature.

That thesis is being challenged in the modern era because of DNA. Genes associated with intelligence are not equally-distributed. Neither is anything else.
