Religion in the US is subsidized by the public. Under US tax law, churches are considered to be public charities, and are exempt from federal, state, and local income and property taxes. Not only are they exempt, but the clergy housing, retirement communities are exempt in many states. Not only are they except, but the products they sell at their gift shops are exempt even if they sell computers in some states. Not only are the churches, synagogues, mosques and temples exempt but their organizational structure and conventions (Southern Baptist Convention for example). They may have to pay an unrelated business income tax (UBIT).
Its a complex body of law, but they are subsidized. The university wants it both ways: to benefit from tax law and be subsidized by those whom they discriminate against.
But of course the government interferes with religion in other ways. Polygamy comes to mind...after all its Biblical. And here in the south there are still well over 100 churches (an estimate) which practice snake handling. Only WV permits it legally. VA and NC look the other way as long as children don't attend the services and as long as no one gets killed - which does happen on occasion.
Trans-women are in fact biological men. The brain/mind of one sex trapped in the body of another doesn't actually biologically exist. Its a myth we let fester because no one imagined it would lead to this nonsense.
Now we must prioritize the emotional affirmation of trans over real women's safety and fairness in sports. We are now basing our laws on a falsehood and endangering women and kids for the sake of affirming an unscientific dogma.
The trans community is treading in areas they never should have crossed and its going to backfire on them. They are being unwittingly set up by people who think they are allies.
The Democrats err when they underestimate the severity of this and the extent to which voters will care.
While I might agree with some of what you have said, I would question the bolded part. I'm not saying you are wrong or even disagreeing with you but you have made a bold statement and I would like to know how you can say that as a fact. Is this 'proven' medical fact? If so, care to give us reference?
No one is preventing an individual from taking an action in their private life because they are Christian. Politicians represent the public. That is a different story.
My Constitution doesn't read like that.
