Oh, the design is on purpose with such intent. No different than the various far-right or neo-nazi groups having a flag similar to the Nazi flag, or a "red flag" in a political context with a design placement or not, being regarded in general as the flag of communism.

The clenched fist that BLM uses as their symbol, is in fact the Communist fist / salute. Black nationalist groups, like the Black Panthers, were also Marxists and adopted the Communist symbol. Too many people ignorant of the facts, overlook the Marxist roots of those movements and just assume the raised clenched fist was a symbol for black power.
Yes, but that's mostly irrelevant. The threat posed is not to capitalism, but to white people and the societies they've built.

Out of curiosity, how many of the people here who consider BLM a 'terrorist group' have been to a single BLM event, and talked to the people there in person? Or are most people only getting news from the infowars, newsmax, breitbarts of the world?

What is the U.S. government supporting BLM?

BLM's damage last summer is only surpassed by the 9/11 attacks in terms of insurance costs.
(man-made disasters)
The protesters were not the terrorists....

At least 66 incidents of vehicles driving into crowds of protesters were recorded from May 27 to July 6, with at least four ruled accidental and seven involving police officers. Since 2015, such actions have been encouraged against Black Lives Matter protests by "Run Them Over" and "All Lives Splatter" memes online, as well as items posted on Fox News and on social media by police officers.

There is room for distinction between people who ascribe to the sentiment that black lives in police custody should matter as much as white lives in police custody and the people who are, shall we say, "card-carrying members" of BLM.

#BlackLivesMatter is still used as a social media hashtag for protest events in localities across the country that have nothing more to do with the BLM organization than merely the use of the hashtag for communication.
