I'm finding articles about some (4,000) of them getting stuck in Mexico and incarcerated there, but I'm not finding anything conclusive on how many are in the u.s. detention centers, but could be as many as 2,000.

I have a relative interned in the camp and she was mixed. Looked nothing like a typical Japanese, but she was in the internment camp. She died hating Democrats.
This said, I myself am not offended by it one bit. They already built a camp, so why not making it useful? Use it as a park, a playground, why not use it as a homeless shelter? Last but not least, why do we have so many illegals in the country? It should be used as a homeless shelter for American homeless people.
I agree with op, if president Trump did this, all hell breaks loose.
Money doesn't grow on trees. It makes zero sense to tear it down. Just make it useful.
America has moved on from this. Government already apologized and they did the right thing. What else do people need ?
