what the....

Quote:
NOW THAT Jeff Bezos’s space flight company Blue Origin has lost a multibillion contract to Elon Musk’s SpaceX, Congress is prepping the ground for Bezos to win a contract anyway, ordering NASA to make not one but two awards.

The order would come through the Endless Frontier Act, a bill to beef up resources for science and technology research that’s being debated on the Senate floor this week. An amendment was added to that legislation by Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., to hand over $10 billion to NASA — money that most likely would go to Blue Origin, a company that’s headquartered in Cantwell’s home state.

Cantwell’s amendment is no sure bet though: Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., introduced a last-minute amendment Monday to eliminate the $10 billion. “It does not make a lot of sense to me that we would provide billions of dollars to a company owned by the wealthiest guy in America,” Sanders told The Intercept Tuesday.

it pains me to say it but... go, bernie?

Space-X is kicking the competition's tuckus. We can't have any of that now, can we?

ViaSat asks FCC to halt SpaceX Starlink launches because it can’t compete

Quote:
A long-time satellite internet provider notorious for offering expensive, mediocre service with strict bandwidth restrictions, ViaSat has also been engaged in a years-long attempt to disrupt, slow down, and even kill SpaceX’s Starlink constellation by any means necessary. That includes fabricating nonsensical protests, petitioning the FCC dozens of times, and – most recently – threatening to sue the agency and federal government as the company becomes increasingly desperate.

The liberal Congress members have no shame. Senator Maria Cant Well be-bothered-with-integrity and Rep. Pramila Jayapal are two frauds from what used to be a wonderful state. My grandparents were long-time Democrats in Washington State and lived in the Seattle area. They would not recognize what an un-American cesspool of hypocrisy the western side of the state has become. Microsoft and Amazon did not make it better place.

Washington State still has a few pretty parts, away from all the people-y ones.

Sort of stupid. Let's squabble over which of two of the richest Americans we'll give a contract to because of how rich they are. Really shouldn't matter. Which of the two contractors has the lowest bid and can deliver what the government is paying for. I don't really care if it's Bezos BO or Musk Mars Colony or traditional defense contractors like Lockheed, Northrop, General Dynamics.

Everyone's going to have their own opinion on funding NASA which then uses contractors for stuff and where that falls in the scheme of all the money that the government spends (or wastes, depending on your outlook) on various things. Personally I'm pretty pro spending on NASA in that scheme of things. At least versus things like allocating many times more money for extraneous F-22 air-to-air fighters that the military isn't requesting funding for as they don't, in their view, need them, alternate engine program for the F-35 which the military doesn't need or want and would just prefer more F-35s than a redundant engine, extraneous C-17 and C-130 transports the military is not requesting. They're just pork for pork's sake projects. The military loves its toys. When they're the ones saying we don't need nor want this stuff and it's still being funded, that's a bigger pork barrel bridge to nowhere nobody wants than $10 million to NASA. I'd prefer less military spending and all the spending on things the military doesn't even want is pretty low hanging fruit. At the very least maybe just spend that money on things the military does want instead.

When you're the richest man (Bezos) in the Milky Way Galaxy, even when you lose a government contract to your competitor SpaceX, you somehow are able to convince your "friends" in Congress to give you a 2nd place trophy worth $10 billion!

Just as a reminder to all you democrats out there. You voted for this. You voted to allow congress to give one of the richest men in America 10 billion dollars he doesn’t need. Mean tweets don’t sound so bad now do they?

That money should go to Israel so they can buy more weapons to defend themselves.

Jeff Bezos does not need to be bailed out. Amazon just bought MGM for 8.5 billion. Have Americans not realized these mega corporations decide our elections?

The ultra rich control the media which tells people what to think. And the people actually believe their ideas about Trump/Biden are their own? Once the politicians get voted in, it's time to pay up.
