If you'd been in Australia, you would hardly have worn one. I wore one for a cumulative total of less than 60 minutes since this began. Ah freedom!
Yeah I think I wore one on the train a few times.
Haven’t been in “lockdown” since May 2020. I live just north of the most populous city in Australia. Went to a packed gig on Saturday night, no masks, no distancing, no restrictions.
Melbourne are going through a week of restrictions to stem an outbreak, which appears to work.
There’s a lot of things effed up about the way some of it’s been handled, sure.
But the majority of Australia has had way more freedom than the US over the past year, my kid had gone to school every day since last June, and apart from the border restrictions (both international and domestic) that unfortunately continue, things have been normal for a long time.
Getting my AZ jab this week. We still need to get the vaccination rate up. Get those borders open and us back into the world.
As a Canadian living in Melbourne, I can tell you that not everyone is happy with the current lockdown. There’s been a fair amount of criticism directed at it. However, wen you look at Australia’s overall handling of COVID relative to countries like the US and UK (among many others), then it’s hard to argue against it.
Why do you Canadian posters act so rudely here? Is your inferiority complex that bad?
I didn't say all, but many are, and Moderna was both designed here and manufactured here. None are made in Canada because it's a poor country with no biomanufacturing industry. Stop being rude to me because you live in a second rate country, not my fault.
I'm rude? Damn, you just broke another irony meter....
The real reason why the United States has a huge death toll is because of the prevalence of conspiracy theories floating around. By comparison, in Australia and Canada, conspiracies are fringe movements, rather than being mainstream.
You guys jump into threads, are presented with facts, and then launch personal attacks instead of discussing those facts. If you don’t like the facts, discuss that instead of trying to make me the topic.
You never seem to mention the liabilities side of the wealth equation....
Liabilities offset assets, not income or GDP. America’s is the highest in the world among countries with more than 20 million people. I’d recommend reviewing a basic accounting website.

If you think disagreeing with your "facts" is rude, then that is your problem, not mine.
More freedoms? What ridiculous survey is that from? You go around praising ineffective gun control, ineffective COVID lockdowns, Canada's greater restrictions on free speech, and how great it is to be a Queen's subject, and then say you have more freedom?
And a quality of life where you can't get a 2nd COVID shot, has far fewer high paying jobs, awful weather, people who obey idiotic government orders? There's a reason why more Canadians immigrate to America than vice versa. Same with Australia but at least they've got good weather.
The ten countries with the highest human freedom indexes (the freest countries in the world) are:
New Zealand 8.88
Switzerland 8.82
Hong Kong 8.81
Canada 8.65
Australia 8.62
Denmark 8.56
Luxembourg 8.56
Finland 8.53
Germany 8.53
Ireland 8.52
I know this goes against the ingrained USA #1 mantra, and the US overall is better than a lot of places, but you putting down Australia and Canada is just laughable.
Oh and God Bless the Queen! Ha, ha, ha,
