The Filibuster has some nice quirks! Liberals are in meltdown mode.

On Friday, Senate Republicans successfully blocked the effort to open debate on the creation of a commission to investigate the January 6 riots in Washington, D.C., marking the GOP’s first successful legislative filibuster of the Biden presidency. According to initial reports, the final vote was 54 to 35.
The six Republicans who voted in favor of the commission were Senators Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Susan Collins (R-ME), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Rob Portman (R-OH), Mitt Romney (R-UT), and Ben Sasse (R-NE).
According to Axios, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) responded, “I am sorry if an independent commission to study an attack on our democracy isn’t a Republican ad-makers idea of a good time.”
“This is too important,” Schumer added.
Before the vote, Schumer asked Republican senators, “What are you afraid of, the truth? Are you afraid that Donald Trump’s Big Lie will be dispelled?”
It was nice to see a few republicans take this seriously but Mitch appears to have pressured the others to vote against a the commission, sad day for the republican party, sad day for America.

Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia called his Republican counterparts "unconscionable" after GOP senators blocked the creation of a commission to invest the January 6 Capitol riot in a critical vote.
"Choosing to put politics and political elections above the health of our Democracy is unconscionable," Manchin said in a video shared to Twitter on Friday. "And the betrayal of the oath we each take is something they will have to live with."
Another attempt by democrats to drag a diversion out until the next elections so they could continuously and breathlessly try to condemn all Trump voters.
They would love to hammer the public about how all Trump voters are a threat, labeling them as domestic terrorists.
That rhetoric would also have brought attention to their current mangling of our military by “reimagining” the conglomerate of all forces to consist of liberal wimpy tools, calling it a necessary step to “keep radicals” out.
Playing people with wretched emotional and cherry-picked garbage is all that would have been. Oh look!! Look here!! Domestic terrorists!! The worst in our history!! It’s horrific!! Gasp for air!!

If Democrats had stormed the Capitol, pumped bear spray at police and beat them, the GOP would lose their minds. But it's the GOP that did it so rules are different. How many investigations were there into Benghazi? The GOP is trying to keep the focus away from the Trump campaign, who probably had a hand in the creating the result of January 6th. Since Trump is actually being sued over it, the last thing Trump wants is a public investigation into what happened.

The GOP is a cult with authoritarianism views. They have been groomed to believe they only should be the ones in power and they are the "patriots" Anyone outside of their bubble is the "enemy". When Republicans win everyone needs to bow down and respect the outcome. With Democrats win it's called "cheating" "dead people voted" etc.
If Trump was able to and if he cancelled all elections and said I'm the president until I die 90% of Republicans will be completely fine with that.

We are talking about trying to overturn an election on January 6th. Building a gallows and chanting "Hang ike Pence!" We are talking about the president of the country telling his followers to go to the Capitol and expressing anger because Mike Pence wouldn't do what Trump wanted. We are talking about rioters breaking into the building, pumping bear spray and beating police officers, two of which have since committed suicide.
