You want to reinterpret history based on 2021 feelings and meaningless words like “okay”. The history of humanity as far back as anyone can make notation of is based on various groups of people defeating other groups of people and taking over their land and settlements. This is why we have Paris. This is why we have England. And yes it is why we have America. You are naive to think it could have been different and overly simplistic to ask if this was or wasn’t “okay.”
The point that is being missed here is that those that were sent here to establish colonies, were not the aristocracy. They were poor, sent to do the grunt work. This is way before the time of the antebellum mansions and plantations which came about years and years later, long after the initial colonies had been established.

I’m not trying to reinterpret history, that’s crazy. I am saying that other people were here first, this is undeniable. A civilization with better weapons took that land from them, this is also true. It may not have been right, but I understand the motivations. You can talk about art, Paris (one of my favorite cities btw) or whatever else you want, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that this land was taken from its original inhabitants.

Just out of curiosity, would you be ok with China overtaking us in ten years? To the victor go the spoils, amiright?

Look up why the colony of Maryland was established and then get back to me.

All land was taken from its original inhabitants at some point, I suppose. But why is it that only the US and the UK have to atone endlessly for their “colonization”? Why does no one criticize Germany or Russia for their take overs and invasions, some as recently as the mid to late 20th century? I guess they weren’t taking over land that belonged to innocent natives/people of color so that is permissible? Heck, China is actively taking over land and sea territories right now, but no, it’s the Americans who must be shamed, and statues of Columbus torn down.

Again with the “okay” word. Can you not think about this with greater complexity?

So, were the people who got off those ships rich or poor? We both know that no aristocrat was jumping off a ship to build log cabins in Roanoke. Let’s be real here.

I’m not shaming anyone, just speaking facts. Going by your previous post, it’s 100 percent fine that China is doing this, “to the victor goes the spoils”, right?

It’s a simple question, can you answer it?

Roanoke is in Virginia. Look up Maryland.

That’s what the woke are doing, shaming Americans for something that happened 400 years ago while ignoring what China is doing. It’s akin to the outcry over slavery which ended 150 years ago, while ignoring the existing ongoing slave trade in Africa and the ME.

I’m not answering anything where you keep using the word “okay”, like we are in 3rd grade or something.

The Roanoke colony predates Maryland.

This is neither here nor there in regard to my postings. I could not care less about the “woke”

Alright, using your logic, are you fine with China overtaking us in ten years? “To the victor goes the spoils”, right? It’s a simple yes or no answer.

This answer tells me further dialogue is pointless.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

I have no respect for him as a politician.

But I think everyone who be treated fairly, Dem or Rep.

Okay, I doubt he's well-meaning. I think he's awful. But I don't think he's wrong in this instance. Of course, there is "evidence" of Indian culture in various parts of the country, but it would be crazy to claim, as CNN would imply, that it's been a dominant force in overall American culture.

That's a very interesting point. It reminds me of Obama saying "You didn't build that" - meaning that all our business successes are based on all the work that has gone before, from others.
