No, Im saying divert most of the money from Iraq and spend a small piece of that on illegals as well as other domestic issues.

NOTHING should be spent on illegals because they are lawbreakers!

Oh while we are talking about spending..here is a chart for you folks..

You should post what percent of the GDP military spending is. It is well under 10% of the U.S. GDP.

Unfortunately, a substantial percentage of the billions being spent in Iraq are borrowed from China. Therefore, we can’t exactly ‘divert’ funds we don’t actually have. Ending the war would simply curtail the astronomical amount of debt owed.

Furthermore, the ‘small’ amount being spent on illegal aliens is actually well into the billions. We cannot afford to continue diverting funds intended for legal citizens of this country to individuals and families residing in this country illegally. This is most definitely one of the causal factors for the budget deficit in CA; and it is not racist or xenophobic to acknowledge this -- anymore than it is to acknowledge the negative impact the war has had on our economy. It’s simply a fact.

It stands to reason it would be less expensive to be responsible for the support of your family, than it would to be responsible for the support of your family and several other families in your neighborhood.

An ‘honest’ dialogue on the financial woes in California requires an assessment of ALL factors contributing to this dilemma; not simply those deemed politically correct. It is not an either/or (Iraq/"Illegal" Immigration) situation. IMO, we simply cannot continue to foot the bill for either.

It will never recover and only decline. The unemployment rate is ready to explode upwards, the crime rate will follow, the quality of life will never recover, you will be living in a state whose demographics will be identical to cities like Tiajuana, Rio.
So where will be the New Hollywood and Beverly Hills?

The GDP of the US and of the European Union in aggregate is about the same.

As they say, it all starts in California. Take as an example the report about the public service employees in a California locale. A police seargeant making $150K per year can retire at age 50 (with 30 years service) at 90% of full pay. I support law enforcement and firefighters, but when you look at these numbers, you see a broader problem.

It seems that local government employees are well taken care of with regard to salary, pension, and benefits. This means that the way to financial security is to beg, borrow, or steal your way to a government job. They are increasingly hard to come by. Private businesses will look elsewhere, either to relocate or locate a new business.

The people, the "gun toting religious" fly over people, may end up with the jops after all - once businesses decide to relocate to an area more inclined to welcome businesses.
