So the latest woke thing I've heard at my school, which may sound crazy today to some of you, but is likely to grow and be more mainstream in the left within 15 years is:
Gender is a human made construct that does not exist naturally. Therefore, believing in gender is oppressive as it constricts humans into a man made paradigm that is unfair.
Personally I think gender is in part biological and you see other species having differences between genders as well. It isn't oppressive to accept that there are genders. No one should say this gender can't be a doctor for example, but there are clearly genders.
It is as oppressive to declare a difference between red and green when there are some people with defects (colorblindness) who cannot tell the difference, as it is to declare a difference between a penis and vagina when there are some people with defects who cannot tell the difference.
As a cisgender, I am not able to offer an opinion on the matter
Anyone can have an opinion about it but it really only counts if you live in the real world and are capable of logical thought. Gender is biological and isn't oppressive. See? Like that.

As you fairly presented this as a serious discussion, thank you - in before the "I identify as a ukulele" comments - I think what you are saying in the last sentence is correct, it's more about strict gender roles being enforced in society that's the issue. As a woman doing what's historically considered a man's job, I have been told countless times that it's no role for a woman, although thankfully more toward the beginning of my career, as societal perceptions of gender obligations shift.
Of course biology does dictate differences in the sexes, nothing wrong with that, and I don't think people are actually arguing that is not the case.
However, I do indeed believe that for some people, gender and sex are not clearly defined as we as a society rigidly define them, in their own person, and that that is something to consider as we look at how we classify gender in the 21st century, and as we discover more about the drivers for this phenom.
I believe in biology, male and female. If someone want's to identify as a man or a woman, I respect that and will call them he or she. But the they him who what when where apache helicopter cis non binary lingo goes to far.
I identify as Trans Am/NFL/Money/Havanese. I have no idea what gender is.
