I suspect that this is an issue that will start out among cries of bigotry....and in 10 years the attempts to reverse these decisions will be lead by cries of bigotry of it's impact.

He probably feared he would get fired. We've seen the stories....

Yep, if he truly loved his sport, he would have taken the firing... imo.
