Not going to further my debate on the issue in this thread, but realize any state ban involving collegiate sports, only effects public colleges/university's.
In Florida for example; Florida State- trans athletes banned, University of Miami-trans athletes allowed. Public U's do compete against Private U's. Kind of makes a ban moot in college sports.
U of Miami's, Manny Diaz led the charge of college coaches that lobbied against the ban but obviously failed.
All good.
I suspect that this is an issue that will start out among cries of bigotry....and in 10 years the attempts to reverse these decisions will be lead by cries of bigotry of it's impact.

I'm thinking a culture of fear has crept into the sport - saw an interview with a national coach involved with this particular weightlifter, and I got the impression that he wasn't saying what he really thought on the subject.

Yep, if he truly loved his sport, he would have taken the firing... imo.
