Hey, don't worry. Your remark got a laugh out of me--thanks!

Nope. That's not it. Can't get a job with an ITIN, therefore those who have an ITIN pay no federal income or payroll taxes.

Directly from the IRS:

"Do not accept an ITIN in place of an SSN for employee identification or for work. An ITIN is only available to resident and nonresident aliens who are not eligible for U.S. employment.

An individual with an ITIN who later becomes eligible to work in the United States must obtain an SSN."

So what is the point of posting about Canada ?
As a percentage of their respective populations, Canadians travel abroad to access health care at a 38% higher rate than Americans do. That's the point. Canadians flee their country to get health care elsewhere at a higher rate than Americans. Why is that, if Canadian health care is supposedly so great?

Once again, you don't address the point. Why?

I suspect I've spent time in more States than most here. Forty-six so far. By car, not in airports. Probably been to more Presidential Libraries than most, 8 of them. How many have spent time actually going through some of those Libraries' archives?

I could go on. But won't.

Seems to me that you must make good returns from your "investment interests in the USA" and genuinely like, maybe even love it here. So what's the damn problem?

You aren't going to get a popular positive response about M4A. It's great if you're dirt poor. The other 53% of us that actually pay taxes, complete disaster.

Uh, that was me agreeing with your girlfriend who made that irrelevant post in this thread about "universal healthcare". Care to re-read the thread to catch up?

Because your point is stupid, normstad. It’s just an insult, nothing more.

I seems that I know more about your countries tax laws than you do.

An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) lets you file an income tax return if you do not have a valid Social Security Number. The ITIN is a 9 digit number that you can request and receive from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
