When people say that Trump did irreparable damage to our country, this is one example, the way he made hate, ignorance and racism a badge of honor for so many.
I hate Trump and support increasing the numbers of legal immigration. Most come here to work, which is good for the economy in spite of the populist garbage both Trumpers and Union thug worshipping Democrats believe in. That said, managing the border chaos is a separate matter. Developing proper ways to handle the numbers humanely and setup systems to move people is challenging but it has to be done. So it's been extremely disappointing to see Biden/Harris try to blame Trump or say this is the result of climate change. This sort of ineptitude is bad for America and for the people trying to get into this country.
Well getting to the root of the problem is a part of solution.
It's incredibly naive to think El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico will ever have the opportunity or quality of life of the US. You don't suddenly take economies based on drugs, labor intensive agriculture, corruption, and low education and turn them into functioning societies. These places will be significantly poorer and corrupt than the US for as long as they exist. This has to be part of the thinking of a sensible border strategy.
The last administration sank to unthinkable lows and things suck enough in Honduras that people came anyway. Meanwhile, this administration is putting its head in the sand and is showing remarkable weakness by being afraid to confront any of these issues seriously.
Part of the solution is dealing with the drug crisis in the US which is the root cause of the gangs in Central America. We are driving it though our demand.
Unless invited to any country , it's not our place to intercede. Period. Unsure if the FBI and CIA have information that helps the V.P to go in an effort to de-escalate the surge in immigration.
Our former presidents each chose methods that chiseled away at this challenge. None though have been successful .

Mexico is a wealthy nation. The only problem is most of the populace is held down by those with power. They need to solve their own in house problem. They have the resources to it. They can raise their own standard of living

Honduras, and Guatemala are not that bad either. They are like Mexico. They have everything it needs to raise living standards. You dont need Tech, and Hollywood to have a stable nation.
