I'm surprised a conservative newspaper would run this story. Are white people jealous of successful blacks, and why hasn't there been another successful black neighborhood since?

There were a number of communities that suffered a similar fate.

There hasn’t? Where did you learn that?

So people were bad 100 years ago. What does that have to do with me now?

Looking back does nothing. We should be looking ahead to make things better.

But some people want to keep the guilt and victimization going for some reason?

Yeah, that was terrible what they did to those people, I'm watching it now on tv and it's so sad. A community destroyed and hundreds of lives lost, Black men hanging from trees as their families looked on like it was a social event.

Check where I grew up! The place is more than 100 years old and began as [and still is!] a segregated community.

This is an important part of our history which doesn't seem to be taught but should. Looking ahead means learning from our past and acknowledging it.

I agree, until recently you haven't been really hearing much about this story. People in this country need to know what took place there, and the horrible things they did to those people.
