I suspect they’re Palestinians or Palestinian supporters. They’ve been on a rampage against innocent American Jews in the past few weeks. Their antisemitism is VERY strong.
That's what happens when we live in a multi cultural society. Too many people have immigrated here that have no knowledge of American history or any respect for those who gave their all to make this country the greatest nation in the world. They have no desire to assimilate and bring their centuries old conflicts to our shores. All due to our lax immigration policies both legal and especially illegal. In order to immigrate to our country and become an American citizen one must be fluent in English, have a basic knowledge of our history along with understanding the principles of which this great nation was founded. What the hell ever happened to that?
This whole situation has gotten totally out of hand because we the people have allowed politicians to get away with it. Politicians that are in it for their own personal gain. After all they are the one's that make and enforce the laws. The hell with whether it's good for the country or not? Our government run public school systems have become nothing more than indoctrination centers for subversive ideas and politically correct ways of thinking. They blame America for all of the evils throughout the entire world. When are people finally gonna' put their feet down and demand that this s**t comes to an end? That we will not tolerate this crap any more? It's infuriating. Vandalizing private and public property, especially war memorials is not a form of free speech.
Unfortunately not only NYC. They'll never be satisfied until the entire country is turned into a s**thole of their own making. My God, how I both loathe and despise these types of people.

Or just anti-white. They wanted to make it look like white supremacists did it. But nobody believes that.
I'd say we can go with an "Escape from New York" sort of setup at this point. It's not far off. We could do this with several dozen of our largest US cesspool cities as well. Wall those cesspools off and let them be autonomous zones, giving time to let normal people out. After that, nobody in, nobody out. When it's all over, repopulate.
