F1 seats are custom designed to the driver, sure, and we all know that’s not economically viable for consumers. And speaking of F1, part of the purpose of it is for car companies to test innovations under wider variables and adjust accordingly, and eventually it produces design features that make cars safer and more reliable for the general market.
All of the safety equipment is designed around the driver. That’s why they don’t haphazardly replace drivers during a race.

Yeah, that’s for racing sports. What about consumer market cars? How are they different from any other product that’s improved by considering more kinds of test subjects in the design? That’s your claim no?

Whoa... whoa... timeout here

Is she recognizing gender? I didn't think that was allowed anymore in Congress.

How dare she make the assumption that the dummy is a male.

IMPEACH her...

Not bad.

Now, this is for the class: How do we build crash-test dummies that represent a suitable cross-section of humans?

Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, the non-voting representative of Washington, D.C., says the lack of female crash-test dummies means that vehicle collision risks for women are not adequately studied, according to the Washington Times.

Cars are the safest they have ever been. There are some vehicle models that have NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT THAT RESULTED IN A FATALITY despite there being hundreds of thousands of units produced.

But yea let’s put wigs on dummies, duct tape t*i*t*s to their torsos and give them an iPhone to text on during impact. I’m sure it will make a HUGE difference.

So, you are saying there is more to being a man or woman than just how someone feels?

Sounds reasonable to me, there are physical differences between sexes.

The crash dummies represent HUMANS, not genders.
Men drive roughly 30% more miles annually than women, yet only account for 21% more accidents, men average 16,000 miles to womens 10,000 miles. When you correct for increased mileage the figures are equal, or slightly in men's favor for being less risky drivers.

Crash-test dummies already have a higher credibility rating than Congress........what more do they want?

I am saying sex and gender are two different concepts, as does everybody else who has looked into the question. Go play "gotcha" with someone else.
