"Overturning CA’s assault weapon ban and comparing an AR-15 to a SWISS ARMY KNIFE is a disgusting slap in the face to those who have lost loved ones to gun violence.

Our founding fathers are rolling in their graves. When they wrote the second amendment they had muskets and dueling pistols. They didn't have weapons to do mass shootings like we have today.
Just for the giggles; google "Whitetail deer hunt with mountain howitzer." If that ain't capable of mass destruction, I don't know what is. ...and that's the level of technology the founders of our country had.
When the Redcoats marched into Concord on April 19th,1775, they weren't there to seize the colonists hunting muskets, they were there to seize their CANNONS
What's it they say about "those who cannot remember their history?" Oh, and there was a mass shooting several years before 1775. It happened March 5th, 1770. You might want to google that while you're at it. It was the first mass shooting in recorded history.
Because. as we all know, it's so very sane to . That's the sign of a healthy, happy society, dontcha know? Just wait until agriculture in CA collapses due to long-term drought. People will be machine-gunning each other over food. If you haven't figured out how to move to Canada yet, I'd work on that now, rather than try to crash the gate after your particular brand of "sanity" explodes onto society.
"....allow the citizenry to stockpile assault weapons...."?
Did you just redefine what an assault [rifle] is? It looks like it.
The fact is, in order to own an assault weapon one must jump through federal hoops not to mention the cost of purchasing one. They range from a few thousand to several thousand dollars.
that doesn't really mean anything though, there are lots of guns that CAN be turned into full automatics in minutes! The result is the same (should the law ever find out), and that is 10 yrs in federal prison and $250K fine!

That's why if you are going doing something like that, just get a binary trigger and you are still legal.

No, and it seems likely the state will appeal to the Ninth Circuit, and the Ninth Circuit is not that friendly to Second Amendment issues. What will be interesting is whether this is the case that makes it to the Supreme Court, which has not decided a case relating to "assault weapons."

It seems to me, the real issue comes with whether the gun is fully automatic or not. If it is full automatic, the ATF tightly restricts its possession, to the point of being an infringement!
I could be wrong though, are there any full automatic guns that do NOT fall under the ATF class 3 laws? Its possible there are, and I am just not aware of it.
If the ATF has specifically targeted guns that are full automatic, well that is something else entirely, I do not believe they can legally do that.
The law restricts possession of any full automatic firearm, BATFE enforces the law and performs the regulatory function. There are no exceptions to the law restricting full auto firearms.
