I'm not moving any goal posts. Yes, those who grew up in ethnic enclaves learned English. How do you think the kids managed in school? In fact, when the kids grew up, many moved to the 'burbs. They certainly did assimilate.

Lawrence Welk certainly assimilated into US society. He wouldn't have been successful if he hadn't assimilated.

Heck, the Amish speak Pennsylvania Dutch but they all learn English. If they didn't speak English, they wouldn't be able to do business with the "English" people.

A low fertility rate is a recipe for more immigration! If you want the U.S. to remain more white, have 6-10 children each. Not one or two!

Some say the Solutreans came first.

Human life originated in Africa. How far back do you want to go?

Good grief! How many people will be too many for you? 1 billion? 2 billion? We don't have unlimited potable water or buildable land.

Again, from that example article I gave,

Quote:
the researchers found that German remained the primary language of commerce, education and religion well into the early 20th century
That's just one example. Decades of people living, learning, and doing business in German, not English, despite coming to America, having kids, etc. Yes some immigrants assimilate quickly, but others do not. I wouldn't be surprised if it is actually more prevalent now than back then, despite what people think.

The Normans and Saxons were in continental Europe, their descendants should leave England and move back. The Brits who then took over Australia could go back to England. The Canadians who left their Tim Horton's homelands should be placed on reservations where they can eat donuts and coffee and get the hockey package on cable.

This nonsense of "displacement" has to stop. Places aren't static, and America is going to get more Latin, Asian, and Canadian immigrants, because we offer a lot more opportunity for all of them. And for the most part it makes us a better country.

"Well into the 20th century". That was over 100 years ago.

No. Immigrants from some groups are not assimilating into US society today. Certainly, illegal aliens make little effort to do so.

We, as a nation, are doing them no favors if we give them documentation in their native languages. That slows assimilation and the learning of English. The best way to learn is total submersion. I wish I had had that experience when I lived off the Mainland.

Have you spent much time in Mexico?

Whites are in the north? Huh? There are Mennonites who live in Chihuahua and came directly from Europe as well as some Mormons from the USA there. Very small population. Otherwise the "whites" are not in the north. Its not broken down that way at all. If you speak spanish and are part of the latin culture you are part of one big group. Latin America does not divide people by race as we do here.

The "migrants" are from Central America not some influx from Columbia. And the ones that cannot get into America end up in the north and work in the factories on the border. There is no big conflict due to race there. We have a unique situation here due to past slavery and the huge amount of immigrants who come here yearly. Mexico has a different history. And their problems are more complex than race or immigration.

Mexico's issues spring from the cartel influence, corruption in general and the families at the very top who own a big portion of the wealth in the country. Certainly race and immigration are way down the list of issues.

yes it will destabilize, that is the point of biden's lack of action.

Amazing the people opposed get sucked into chasing the laser light biden projects onto the wall.

Will someone ask the question WHY are you allowing this invasion of drugs, OTMs human trafficking...not, why aren't you securing the border.

Of course the best way to destabilize any society is to flood it with people from a different culture. The world knows this, Biden/socialist committee knows this!!!! So why are they trying to destabilize our society????

Don't get hung up in the details, ask the direct question!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No 'comprehensive immigration legislation' can take place without secure borders. NONE!

Why does Biden/SC not want comprehensive immigration?

What is the next step in removing all these illegal aliens, especially this from other countries across the sea?????

It’s true that America is a nation of immigrants. How does that make America great? It certainly made America great for powerful business interests, because the working class was deeply divided along ethnic, religious, and racial lines. That dynamic continues to this day.

Maybe it’s time to question the “diversity is our strength” mantra? Diversity might be the strength of Big Business, but it isn’t the strength of average Americans.
