This is just another tactic of elites. Trick people into blaming themselves when they lack negotiating power. In a few years we will just vilify or blame another group.
Simple realities: There are enough resources and work so people could work and then get the means to support their needs of food shelter healthcare etc. what we lack is the willingness to address the power structure to make this reality.

Unless I am very much mistaken, Maher's main point was that many people choose to treat college as a fun way to spend four more years before taking on adult responsibilities. To repeat just one of his examples, (quote): "In 2019, we issued more undergrad degrees in visual and performing arts than we did in computer or information science."
