Manchin's daughter is the CEO of Mylan, the manufacturer of EpiPen. Some people have questioned how she even got the job, but I think we all know the answer.
When I saw the title of this thread, my first thought was that Biden did this to placate Manchin. It's very obvious, and all it will do is harm patients.
Trump's order did nothing to lower the manufacturers sale price, so I don't see how stopping it would placate anybody. The order limited the mark up that certain community health clinic could apply. The problem is that this did nothing to reduce overall costs because the clinics would either need to make up that lost revenue elsewhere or reduce their services.
The order only regulated how much the Health Centers could charge for the medication, not the actual cost of purchase from the manufacture whom is the one that raised the price. This is like ordering Circle K to sell gas at $1.00 a gallon but still expect them to pay the normal cost of $2.50 A GALLON from the gas company.
What health centers did is raise the price of other medications or services to cover the cost. So you saved on Epipens but paid more for your Cholesterol medication or Blood pressure pills. Or it cost an extra $10-15 bucks for another service to cover the cost.
Why? People in US are praising capitalism sky high. Well, here is capitalism in culmination - monopoly, that can set any price, and society (via potus) says that "to each it's own" - those who can afford, will afford it, those who can't - well, "find a better job". Isn't it wonderful? Isn't it a basis of this country?
Most self-identified liberals want “free” healthcare. I doubt they would be happy about higher insulin prices, especially if corrupt politicians and Big Pharma lobbyists are involved.
Neither “liberals” nor “conservatives” want corruption. Unfortunately, corruption is a big problem for both major parties, because both parties are funded by Big Business.
Wouldn’t it be great if regular Americans united against corruption instead of fighting each other?
The politicians oughr to wear shirts with Logos of their "sponsors/lobbyists" they work for like NASCAR does so we know who is paying them to work for them.
Why do we have an idiot with dementia as president and a racist VP who has no idea what shes doing?
Because it's one of two options.
A-, (and most likely) this is what the deep state wants and rigged the elections to get the easiest people to control into government because their full intent is to destroy the USA once and for all.
B- this is what happens when you let everyone and anyone vote. It used to be only property owners could vote, and well, maybe we need to go back to that system. Either that or at least only those who pay 10 % or more of their total income in taxes should be allowed to vote. When money and personal responsibility are on the line, people will be more careful who they choose to vote for.
Does this mean Manchin's going to flip on the "For the People" voter fraud bill and/or the filibuster now? I doubt the voters of WV would forgive him for flipping so easily.
And this is why universal health care will never work in the USA, not when we got pos politicians that will decide what medicines we can have or not. Remember the BS about the hydroxychloroquine all because Trump suggested it, which is probably the stuff rich people are given all the time to combat illnesses.
It's actually a demonstration of why action to limit the control of Pharma manufacturers and Insurance Companies is needed. It is another indicator of a health system costing many times more than comparable countries and achieving poorer medical outcomes.
