In case you don't know it eminent domain is a legal way to buy people's properties when it benefits the majority. If I owned some land on the border I wouldn't hesitate to give up a few acres of land to secure our border because it benefits our citizenry as a whole. Our national security affects us all. But then I wasn't raised with the selfish attitude to do what is good only for me when it may negatively impact many others.
What kind of dipstick would want to leave their property open to the drug cartels, criminals, terrorists and so-called migrants trespassing all over it anyway? Ranchers have reported break ins, their animals killed and destruction of their properties by all of the above.
Maybe those that believe eminent domain seizures are government overreach of authority and tyranny? None of which, you of course would understand, given your position, to walk all over people's rights, which include that of your own.
"The entire process of “eminent domain” — the legal term for government taking private property — along the border makes a sham of the Constitution’s requirement that “private property (not) be taken for public use, without just compensation.” Border Patrol can send a letter requesting that the owner “voluntarily” give up the land in exchange for some minor amount, not based on an appraisal of its value.
If they don’t believe that’s “just compensation,” the government will just stick the money in an escrow account and take the land anyway. They can build a huge wall through your house, while you fight for what you think is fair in court. Of the land already taken, wealthy property owners fought and won settlement triple what the government offered, while poor ones took whatever the government offered. That’s a mockery of the Constitution, and multiple bills would fix the issue."
"In south Texas, the Rio Grande pushes past backyards and shopping malls, ranges and ranches. When the federal government began building fences on this stretch of border, it started with government-owned levee land, but it took land as well, cutting farmers off from their farms, cutting neighbor off from neighbor. In federal court cases, officials seized piece after piece, cutting slices out of a state where private property was the original, almost sacred, principle.
But the progress was slow. Court cases lingered. Some landowners fought and won. Some died before their cases ended. Then, the cases slowed to a halt. Now, many are worried it will all happen again — the next fight in a land that seems made for fighting."
According to this report, Weekly border update: June 4, 2021 Biden has not stopped the land seizures. If Biden goes with Surveillance Towers (which DHS reports suggest is the move) the government is still going to need people's property to put the towers up. Right's to property; rights to privacy both are going to be trampled on, in the name of boarder security. Since people were okay with Bush's Patriot Act, (after 9-11) to combat terrorist and national security, this walking all over the Constitution is just another walk in the park --- for the government. All will be completed in due time. And you're going to love it. With Trump, you'd see it coming, with Biden, not so much.
Seems like much of this would be made easier (less confusion) by having an immigration reform meeting with those who enact our laws, not policy makers. But where is the fun in that if they are just going to trample on the Constitution and make it work anyway.

Just curious , are you opposed to eminent domain in all cases or just when it comes to the border?
