Hatred for Trump or Trumpers is not hatred for conservatives. You are very confused if you equate the two. There are conservatives in both parties and a fairly wide range of conservatism in America. The rest of your post is pure idiocy. The very image of Trump as "the flagbearer of the conservative movement" is absurd.

At the present time, I won't vote for DeSantis or any Republican of the current era. They are dead to me and have been for some time. America needs a sane, rational, and competent conservative movement to question in a rational way, and serve as a reasonable counterpoint to liberal voices and policies. Trump and Trumpers killed the conservative movement -- kicked to the curb.

But DiSantis is not Trump.
Trump's toxic aspects to his personality and his demeanor made him intolerable to most voters. Many of those aspects are what Trumpers cited as why they supported and voted for Trump in the first place -- they liked the toxicity. DeSantis has his own problems, but he is not fully Trump-like in all of those toxic respects, so that might work for him or against him. He would have to walk a fine line, fully separate and not reminiscent of Trump but still accepted by the demented, cool-aid-swilling base. I don't think he can do it when push comes to shove.
