Big tech telling us what to think again. Shouldn't people be able to decide what to think on their own?

YouTube suspends Ron Johnson from uploading videos for seven days over hydroxychloroquine claims

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., has been suspended from uploading videos to YouTube for seven days and had a video of a speech talking about early treatments to COVID-19 removed by the video-sharing giant.
The video removal and upload ban came after two videos of Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs hearings he led on early experimental treatments to the novel coronavirus, such as hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin.
Johnson told Fox News that "YouTube's ongoing COVIC censorship proves they have accumulated too much unaccountable power."

Their platform. Their rules.

Nothing prevents anyone from raising funds to create and operate an alternative.

Mike Lindell, My Pillow Guy, claimed he would launch an alternative social media platform within weeks. Lindell says a lot of things.

No Sh!!!T!

We know they CAN do it, the question was SHOULD they?

We have unelected, very liberal nerds in Silicon Valley removing the social media channels of elected politicians nowadays.

THAT's the issue. If you don't think that's scary and ridiculous, or that it could be your people next, then you'd better wake up.

SPEECH should be celebrated and largely unfettered in a country like ours. No matter if one doesn't like it.

Also it's not that easy to just snap your fingers and "create" a brand new alternative to Twitter. Twitter has been around for 16 years and they have the world's share with their head start and branding. They weren't like this from their beginnings. They just turned into speech nazis. This is dangerous since they basically have a monopoly on the micro blogging space.

Shrug, it’s not the government doing it, it’s private companies. Since repubs are so anti government, this should please you.

This is great news! Thank you for sharing

I love to see far-right nutjob politicians get punished for spreading false information

YouTube is a privately-owned company, they can do whatever they want.

You are free to decide whatever you want to think. But if I'm in charge of Youtube, I'd make sure you can't say you learned your crack pot ideas from my business.

It's nothing personal, it's just business.

Hope you have the same view on the Colorado baker that was harassed.

Censorship by proxy is exactly why section 230 protection needs to be removed.
