A Democratic NYC Mayor candidate added $2K of his own money to a reward to catch the perpatrator who recklessy shot at his victim inches away from 2 children who were miraculously not hurt. The victim was not much better basically running over the children to get away.

This shooting/vidoes shows the blatant disreguard for others and human life period. Those two conducted there war in the presence of people unassociated with their battle.

From the article:

Quote:
A citywide surge in shootings has hit the Bronx hardest with 211 through June 13 compared to 97 during the same period last year.
I know we have some apologists around here that try to dismiss crime as being up "everywhere" but come on at some point when you disband the gun taskforce and other policing is diminished as NYC has done you cannot just blithely say it's had no impact.

Murders/shootings aren't up everywhere as the apologists say. Most of the developed world had a reduction in murders/shootings during the pandemic.

Over 80% of US counties still have zero murders this year.

Shootings/murders are up in urban areas where various elected officials have instituted unhelpful policies in response to peaceful protests of looting, arson, and rioting. The vice president helps bail out repeat offenders.

Another reason to have gun control.

Also, I can't help but notice for almost all of these shootings, the Good Guy with a Gun is never around.

NYC has some of the toughest gun control laws in the country. Also slow walks permits to carry from I've read.

This wasn't just about an attempted hit the victim physically ran over those children not even hesitating or thinking about their safety. Both had blatant disreguard for others safety and lives. That is raw frenzied emotion in play. When neither one stops for children, kids they are already a very dangerous lost cause.

No guns in the equation is a what if hypothetical.

Oh come on now. There are tons of counties in the US that have about 1,000 residents.

I think there is a valid point in there but when you veer away from per-capita and other fair stats it basically turns your point to garbage.

Look at % Increase by sizeable region ie. Chicago area vs. rest of state or NYC vs. rest of NY.

Remember, this is the politics forum. You will NEVER change the minds of the far right and left by pointing out facts. Their mental biases prevent that . You need to focus on fair arguments, not the ones you hear from the left or right.

Lol.....in one of the strictest gun law places in the US, a guy tries to commit pre-meditated murder in a likely gang\drug related hit (smugglers) and we get the same people saying we just need more guns laws to fix things.

Why is it that the people that preach diversity the loudest have never lived in a rural part of the US? Many of the worst offenders have only lived in safer, nicer parts of urban areas where they've grown up with a steady diet of excuses from their politically aligned urban core about how the problem is caused by someone else because they don't want to spend the money to address it.

Fast forward we now have calls to tackle social inequities instead of spending money on police.

Try to square that circle, urban areas have been neglecting minorities and just policing the crap out of them. Runs rather counter to the old racist canard that the problem is guns when the suburbs and rich areas have gun violence in line with Canada.

In short, people that blame guns are racist, perhaps without knowing it.

I'm sure the shooter would totally turn in his gun the moment some politician said he had too

They have very strict gun control in Mexico by the way... And criminals are armed to the teeth with... Wait for it... Guns!
