Why would any white male be a Democrat?

It is the party of the people, the working person's party ... the consumer's party. The party behind workplace safety, social security, consumer protection, environmental protection, Medicare.

The party behind the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The Republicans tried to kill it off.

The party that wants to address the global warming threat. Contrast THAT with the Republican position ignoring the threat (even pretending it doesn't exist) because of Petroleum industry donations to Republican candidates.

The party that supports getting dark money out of politics. The Republicans oppose that.

The party which wants an independent commission to investigate the January 6th uprising, the Republican party opposes it.

The party that cares about people like me, that's my party.

I am a Democrat and I am proud of it.

So many myths, you should be a writer in Hollywood.
It might be wise to stop and think about the thoughts you call "myths." This thread is showing how different people think differently. How different people experience the world differently than you do. Don't call it a myth until you have walked a mile in their shoes.

This is an interesting thread so far.

Why would anyone belong to either party is my question.

But this white man certainly can’t support the Republican Party as is either. If you’re forcing me to choose between the two it comes down to the individual. Biden over Trump was an easy choice.

Bingo! We have a winner!

Here's a novel concept. Focus on issues and stop rooting for political parties like they're baseball teams.

^^^^This. Plus many people, both male and female, vote straight D. They still think that today's democrats are the same as their grandfather's democrats. In reality, today's democrats put illegal aliens ahead of Americans. Thus, not only are they unaware of this fact and still vote D, but they are voting for people who walk all over them. Meanwhile, the powers that be in the DNC are laughing themselves sick thinking of how these voters are being played.

All that said, neither party is looking out for Americans. However, there once was a time when dems could be counted on to look out for the poor, working and middle classes Those days are long gone.

You seem to be a higher brow sort that looks down on people you deem less than.

If only those lower class people were smart enough to know that trickle-down economics was good for them!

This sounds good on paper but, in reality, the whole political system is set up for us to pick a side.

Independents and Libertarians get a lot of fandom online but, in the voting booths, the vast majority of people vote for the R or D ticket.

Nah, not buying that for a second. Plenty of people (including myself) are in favor or disfavor of things touted by both parties.

Difference between them is pretty minimal on the global political scale too. Both are right-authoritarian. Just divisive talking heads making it out like they’re polar opposites.

That is so true. The Democrats of old are long gone having been replaced with the new and highly progressive edition.

The Dems today are for crushing big business. Biden cancelled the pipeline on day one.

The Dems today are Pro illegal alien. Kamala has still not visited the border to see the humanitarian issues happening there and they still will not call it a crisis.

The Dems today are putting criminals ahead of the law abiding.

The Dems today are for riots on your street started by BLM and antifa in the name of Social Justice but they condemn when the People rise up and bring their frustrations to their "House".

The Dems today are against Law and Order and have tied the hands of Police in so many cities while talking about defunding and reimagining how Police do their job. They only stopped the defund movement because it was not polling well.

The Dems today turned the Pandemic into a political weapon and they used it with a damn the torpedoes approach that left many small business and middle class folk in the ruins.

The Dems today are a bunch of conniving fear mongering ilk that would tear down the heritage and institutions of this great country in return for power.

From Critical Race Theory, to Climate Change, to having a transgendered person teaching children how to pleasure themselves they are a very divisive party that you can sign up to join but if you do not you become an irredeemable, neanderthal deplorable dog faced pony soldier.

The old Dems that were pro family, pro worker and pro Rights are long gone.
