Anyone as long it keeps Rick Scott out of the running. Trump and DeSantis are loud, abrasive, in your face - Rick Scott is more a Mr. Burns type villain, more dangerous in my mind. Thankfully due to his slimy, aloof nature, I can't see him doing well in a national election.
I do think DeSantis struggles to compose himself when faced with difficult questions, tends to come out swinging a bit too aggressively which in years gone by might have been seen as a disadvantage, but seems to fit in well with Trump's base support currently.
Honestly, the GOP wouldn't even have to try hard. If the DNC keeps embracing radical ideas and screwing up the job market and inflation, the GOP should take things back with relative ease.
I guess it depends upon how you define “relative ease”.
Trump can't allow Desantis to gain any traction. He will have to start insulting him. Desantis is pretty short. "Little" is already used for Marco. What would be a good name for Desantis? Shorty?
Not going to be an issue. Desantis is not a threat to Trump .
If Trump keeps Florida as his official residence DeSantis would be ineligible to run with him.
That is still a matter of debate.
It would certainly give the dems something else to challenge... which you would think given the history Trump would wish to avoid , but then again we are talking about Trump.
Trump has lost a lot of moderate voters. The whole Jan 6 thing didn’t sit well with too many people for Trump to ever be elected again. Desantis should just wait as he is young for Trump to either lose or serve one term. After that Desantis is free to go for two full terms.

Hence the Jan 6 commission got to keep beating that drum. Democrats are experts at this, (e.g., the kung flu.)
