Why didn't they just ask their employees, they are already there and free advisors. I personally don't get the outrage to the point someone would quit but people quit for all types of reasons and scapegoat stuff to justify.
Just go "Hey taking a poll here, should we change our menu on Juneteenth to Watermelon and Fried Chicken or leave it the same". Would literally take 5 min to avoid dramas and if no employees voice a concern then at least you can say "Hey we asked".
I sincerely hope that most black people I've known over the years haven't fallen for this crap about having an HUGE chip on your shoulder and endlessly looking for excuses to get offended. Most blacks that I've known are completely sane and I really doubt they all just lost their damn minds and bought into the "oppression Olympics" crap.
If fried chicken, watermelon and hot sauce are "black people" stuff, then I guess I'm black and just now realized it.
I can guarantee you that fried chicken and watermelon are not strictly "black" foods.
White folk here in Florida love fried Chicken and watermelon. It's more a southern thing than anything else at this point. Even the SuperMarkets and WalMart have Fried Chicken cooking all day.
Ikea swedish meatballs, and lingonberry sauce is great. Its the only scandinavian chain restaurant in the states. I wish there were more.
