If the presidential election were held today, what would be the winning issue for Republicans? (wages, polls)

Did you forget to add a list? Because right now I don't see an issue that is hot enough with non-Republicans/non-Democrats that it would cause them to vote strongly Republican. Sure there are issues that Republicans talk about. Do those matter to independents though? I'd say not a lot. An election at this time would be more about the candidates than the issues.

I agree with this and the polls reflect that most Americans think Biden is doing a good job. Republican voters are a minority and independents are not leaning in that direction. The one issue that could cause a turnaround for non Republican voters is inflation. So far it is not that bad, but it could get worse.
Immigration, crime, crt, does not effect the vast majority of voters. They may be worried about it but it is too abstract to feel strongly about for most.
It would come down to likability and experience if the election were held today.
Crime, crime, crime. They pushed BLM/Defund and it clearly hasn't worked. James Carville wrote a WSJ Op-Ed trying to defend them here, and as a political strategist he doesn't write op-eds unless he's worried they're truly vulnerable. I bet we'll see tons of crime ads from the GOP in '22 and they'll probably be very effective.
So many to choose from, but which issue has the most Americans angry and appalled?

I don't believe crime will be a big issue that's a winner.
Conservative solutions to homelessness and wage inequality could be winners. No one likes to see homeless encampments festering in their home town, and when wages are good enough to live on, crime decreases.
Both sides know what the problems will be in 2024. The solutions offered will determine who wins and who loses.
