the pay depends on what the pay is for - for the work one does or for the success of the product. Depends on which way you go, you will make a different amount of money.

Soccer involves people running around in a particular area.. both men and women run around. so they do the same amount of work. then pay them the same. But if the women bring in less money, they are then worth less, so they get less money than the men.

so it all depends on what the pay is for.

put it on pay per view.

And the men's team sucks in the grand scheme of worldwide men's soccer.
I mean, there have been cases where the Australian women's team have lost to an team of 15 year old boys 7-0. And Australia were ranked 5th in the world at the time.

The US mens team is a top 20 side, they're always improving. Once they do something at a major tournament, there'll be no stopping them.

I find it interesting that people are very candid about how much better male athletes are than female athletes ...

... until we start discussing trans women competing. All of a sudden those differences in athletic ability disappear.

Huh. What a trip.

I’m not at all a fan of Rapinoe, though I support our US Team through thick and thin. I generally dislike loud bullies like her, who feel so morally smug in their convictions.

I especially hate her Subway commercial, encouraging people to “ditch the burger!” and opt for Subway, an equally crap choice of pseudo-food.

That’s all I got.
Her subway commercial is as obnoxious as she is, her and her co players were nasty at the World Cup. Embarrassing

They lost but at least they did their kneeling routine during the anthem.

That's really what's most important.

They can also now take the knee in defeat at the end of the game.

I wouldn't normally care about women's football (soccer) however Megan Rapinoe is such an odious individual and the legal case arguing for equal pay was so stupid, that their defeat actually made me happy.

Most of this stuff comes from sanctimonious virtue signaling and moral preening. Most of this stuff is starting to become dead to people. Most people know that through hard work and preparation that you can make it in this country across the board. There enough pathways there, many people just don't know how or are will to put in the effort.

Sports is totally about meritocracy as it should be. For these athletes to be carrying on when they know better, via the simple fact through their own hard work and efforts is how that got where they are. Some people may have it harder than others in general, but this constant victimhood cry is really getting old and is frankly just not the case.

Foreigners that come to this country understand all this keenly, too bad our own spoiled whiny people here don't.

Not exactly! The "trans" male dominating in women's sports would not reach the same level in men's sports! Kinda like a guy who can't make it in the major leagues drops down to the little league and dominates...instead of dropping to the farm league and being average.

In this case, the pay is for bringing in revenue as it's essentially sports entertainment.

This means ticket sales, merch and of course TV and advertising revenues.

The core argument of US womens soccer was that their ticket sales were as good as the mens which is a small part of the revenue.

The part they left out was that the men got piles of TV revenue because they played teams like Mexico, Brazil etc. and their huge fan bases produced enormous piles of cash.

There are sports where the women would lose to men but still make more money and it's all due to popularity.

The challenge a lot of Womens sports leagues face is that their stars are bitter jerks and turn off viewers as opposed to building the league. (WNBA posterchild for this.) They apparently forget that the NBA started off with bus-rides to play opposing teams and it took decades before it took off due in large part to ambassadors like Magic\Bird, Jordan etc.

Yes, the world must see their virtual signaling.
