You can’t erase history. But you can definitely change what is celebrated or rewarded with a statue.

This is like telling Iraqi’s to keep statues of Sadaam up.

“celebrate defeating your past”

smh..

If you use the same logic, the george floyd statues in newark, nj and elsewhere should be torn down along with all BLM symbols and street paintings as in NYC. GF preyed on blacks, used drugs, scourge of the back community. What does GF symbolize except that stupidity is often met with a bad outcome. Yes, kids, be more like GF!

CRT raises the past as do confederate statues and paintings and symbols, so why does one get support and the other banished???????

The civil war statues represent healing a nation so divided it went to war against itself. For all to see and be reminded of the division and its devastation ans that HEALING took place. Unlike the ME, CRT and elsewhere the fight rages because someone's grandfather a thousand times removed stole the other guy's grandfather's goat, 2 thousand years ago.

Demo socialists destroying the country, feigning sensitivity about symbolism only activists claim are offensive.

Demo socialists are using the black community to forward their agenda in cooperation with the media and activists and terror groups like BLM.

Disgusting lot, their legacy is destruction and dismantling of a once great nation.

It sure was nice growing up in an era where one could watch Archie Bunker... the Jeffersons.. and the Dukes of Hazzard.

Some of the highest rated shows on TV and nobody was ever offended because someone told them to be.

The General Lee (1969 Dodge Charger with a Confederate Flag on top) is one of the most iconic cars in TV history and nobody said anything about the flag on it until recently... kinda like nobody being offended by the Redskins for 70 years.

So many snowflakes out there...

I don’t feel any pride seeing those statues. I see a blatant attempt to honor the losers.

I think statues like these belong in museums. Who the hell celebrates the losers of a civil war? That is just weird.
I'm Black and I hate all Confederate statues. Honoring Confederates has no place in modern American society. The Confederate cause was about making sure Black people remained enslaved permanently. Original documents such as the Articles of Secession and the Confederate Constitution back this up. One of the reasons I hate the Confederate flag.

In fact, a majority of Black people who were polled said they were in favor of taking down Confederate statues. https://today.yougov.com/topics/poli...-confederate-s

My black friends aren't bothered by it... I just asked. We're all Republicans though... you know... the party that didn't create slavery but did put an end to it.

Agree, and I've said before on here that George Floyd should not have statues. The guy was no hero or leader.

Traitors don't deserve monuments.

How many Black friends do you have? Most of the Black people I've known and met aren't Republicans. The vast majority of Black people I've met and known don't like the Confederate flag and seem okay with Confederate statues being removed. I don't know who YOU have been around, but it doesn't match up with what I've seen and known.

By the way, if Republicans are the party who ended slavery, then it should be Republicans who help out with the removal of Confederate statues. I notice the persons TODAY who are either pro-Confederate or are okay with Confederate statues remaining up in public spaces are Republicans.

It’s so weird. On one hand, we have the leftists clamoring to teach “real history” (which means a one-sided account of how awful whites are and have always been), and on the other hand, we have them erasing the very signs of true history.

They just want to keep the rage going.

Removing monuments to the Confederacy in the US Capitol is in no way "erasing history".
