Not true at all..

we have these things called phones, computers and a place called the internet with a ridiculous amount of information at our fingertips.

Future generations will know about the confederacy and that they were losers who finally had their statues removed because the people no longer want to see losers on statues.

Then maybe we should take it up with the publishers of history books.

Confederate statues should have never gone up in the first place. After reading Alexander H. Stephen's Cornerstone Speech, the Confederate Constitution, Articles of Secession, and some of William T. Thompson's excerpts about the Confederates, it should clear that the Confederate cause was about making sure slavery was preserved and remained. It was about making sure Blacks remained subjugated and enslaved, permanently. Original documents say this.

Knowing all of this, Confederates should not get statues in their honor. They should have never gotten them. Taking them down is a recognition that they shouldn't be honored. Having a Confederate statue up in a public place says "this is our hero and this is who we consider to be honorable".

I'm well aware that today, it does. And that the majority opinion (not just his personal fiat decision) including that language is abhorrent today.

And we have a vast majority of Americans that do not read.

Go look at the stats....70% and higher.

You only see it as extreme because you view Osama as the enemy.

Now you are seeing what most Black folks are feeling when they see the flag or these statues.

So the Party that was responsible for Slavery is now trying to erase it's own history.
Indeed, as I'd bet almost every single one of those statues was placed there by former Democrats from their states.
It was not Republicans that had former KKK leaders serving in Congress.

They do not decide the content of the books.
They are PUBLISHERS.

Here's the thing....YOU learned it in school. You've seen the statues. Future generations will not see any statues and get told a story that has been changed.

Good point that the Dems are trying to erase their horrifying past.

To me, these Confederate statues are a reminder about fighting a war over trying to keep a supremely evil practice.....so I'm okay with removal. I do realize that some of the Confederates weren't supporters of slavery but the key point is that they were fighting to support this evil practice.

Why don't they just purge all the congressmen from former Confederate states? The Joseph Wheeler statue was donated by Alabama. Why don't they just oust Alabama from the Union?

They should also remove all the paintings depicting American history of killing native Americans, and more recently attacking Hawaii.
