Great that the family caught the interaction (or lack thereof) on camera. I bet those two guys felt manly, watching a mom set her baby on the ground and hoist those trash cans into the truck all by her lonesome.

From the link:

The city does not list a weight limit for garbage cans on its website, only saying they can be no bigger than 35 gallons
So weight is a non-issue - for the homeowner, anyway. And the trash seemed to be in bags, so it wasn't like they couldn't have taken a few bags out and then lifted the can. Like the homeowner did.

Correct. And the same folks who tried to introduce it into the conversation are the very people who complain about everything being about race. Ironic, no?
Other way around and you would have seen a discrimination compliant.
Worse part of this is they say it is under investigation. So more idiots.
With a few seconds you can see these guys are lazy and not capable of doing the job they are paid for. So should be fired.
City has a duty to hire people that can do the job.
I'm seeing terms like "White supremacist" and "Black privilege" come into this thread. What did race have to do with what happened?
Maybe you haven't noticed but EVERYTHING is being shoved through the lens of race and racial power dynamics these days. You seriously didn't expect the targets might eventually pick up the same weapon and start firing back?

It's called holding up a mirror to the absurd to give them a glimpse of their absurdity.

The OP didn't even bring up race. This was not the time or the place to bring up race. Race had nothing to do with this particular story. Bad work ethic is suppose to be the topic being discussed.

You have no more of an idea than anyone else whether it was about work ethic or race or a personal grievance against this couple or they didn't like the shape of the trash can or whatever else their motive was. Everyone else is just as free to speculate about their motive as you are.

On a side note - the sanitation dept workers are protesting for hazard pay and PPE supplies and the union leader has said our dept is 90% black - if it was a white dept......... - so they brought race into the issue and you have no idea what was in the worker's head that may have affected their inability to life the garbage can.
Holy cow. This story is NOT about race. This story is about a mom who wasn't getting her trash picked up because the container was judged to be too big arbitrarily, so she sat on the porch the next pick up day to make sure her trash was taken. When it wasn't, she asked if she herself could load it and went on to do it herself while the paid workers stood by and watched
That's what this is about.
Because the races were the way they were.
I'd bet money if the races were different the media would have spun an everyday incident like this into a racial lesson for social justice.
She'd be the Karen with too much privilege. Karen is a socially acceptable term to describe an entitled white woman. What is the pejorative term for entitled people of other races that the media freely uses?

Because those conversations are a one way street. Like the left introducing discussions on police shootings while refusing to look at crime stats and resisting arrest choices.
It is time we make these insane conversations two way streets.
I live in Florida and our trash collectors go out of their way to help. I had been jaded in my thinking having lived in other parts of the country so I was expecting the same old "less than adequate" service when I moved here. I've been pleasantly surprised by the level of service we get here in Florida from government workers.
