My guess is that some who actually clicked on the link in the original post saw the picture of the two ladies and immediately made a judgement call without reading much of the following article. These people probably thought the two ladies pictured (#11 and #2) turned away from the flag and the WWII vet. However, it appears those two are actually facing the veteran. Most of the other team members supposedly turned to their left (and away from the veteran) to face the U.S. flag at that end, some with hand over heart. So some seem to be inferring that #11 and #2 were the ones disrespecting the flag since they weren't looking in the same direction as their teammates (which would have been away from the veteran).
Sound confusing? You're not alone.
All that being said, US women's soccer team have no one to blame but themselves really. They should realize that their every action is going to be held under the microscope in light of their past stupidity, at least all 100 people who actually watch women's soccer in America.
Evidently some of the players were facing the flag while some were facing the veteran, hard to do both. How do you look at a veteran and he flag at the same times when they are 90 degrees apart, I guess either way they are going to be criticized.
Rant on with Richard Grennell.
Quote:
“Some of the players were simply looking at the flag flowing on a pole in the stadium in that direction. They were not looking away from Pete as he played the national anthem,” US Soccer Federation chief communications officer Neil Buethe told the Daily Caller.
For some on social media, the clarification was already too late. Users were already up in arms, deeming the perceived gesture by the players to be “disrespectful” to the veteran.
“He did and awesome job. Too bad that some of the USA team that turned their backs on him do not understand what blood was shed so they could have their little protest fit!!! (sic)” a user said.
They say that NOW. There’s such an outrage as the blatant disrespect that they’re afraid of losing their spots.
And that shows why Clara’s suggestion to just ignore reprehensible behavior is wrong. Those guilty of it now are trying to talk their way out, and any other anti-American leftists who were considering joining forces with them have had second thoughts.
Don’t know why the leftists are having trouble believing this. It’s become very trendy for anti-American leftist athletes to be disrespectful to the flag, the National Anthem, and everything having to do them - such as veterans. This is just more of their sick mindset.

It is important to realize that right wingers are looking for things to get worked up about regarding the US women's soccer team these days due to the recent past.
Now this is spreading to the Olympic team. I'm going to enjoy watching all these "patriotic" Americans actively rooting against American athletes because they aren't "patriotic". It's going to be great fun.
It isn't remotely difficult to tell. What do you think the six facing to the right with their hands on heart and singing the anthem were looking at?
It isn't difficult to tell that they had turned to face toward the main flag. But everyone else on both teams, plus the officials and the anthem player was facing front. Were they all protesting? Or were they just lined up that way from the start of the ceremony? Maybe there were flags in the front as well.
I don’t like them and rooted against them in the ladies World Cup, they acted like a bunch of
Shrews to the other teams. I hope they lose and won’t be buying subway until the head shrew is dropped from their advertising.
if that's what is keeping you from eating Subway, you might have the best Subway in all the world.

The serial killer speaketh.
Yes, the Olympics will lose money when patriotic Americans, sickened by the display of athletes REPRESENTING America sticking their middle finger at the country, refuse to watch or buy their products.
Only in Liberal Reverse World would we have representatives of America diss our flag, other Americans object to that sickening display, and have leftists defend the hateful athletes and condemn the true patriots.
Lord help us.
