Capitol police opening field offices to address increased threats to lawmakers

Six months after the Capitol attack, US Capitol Police announced plans to open field offices in California and Florida to investigate threats to lawmakers, among other security measures in the wake of a deadly riot that has magnified the state of security in and around the halls of Congress.

They are going to milk this until the cow is completely dry.

You know - when Trump was president, he sent the feds into local cities (Operation LeGrand) to arrest criminals and deter crime because it was about protecting the citizens of the country.

With this, the Administration is sending the feds out into local cities to arrest people with crimes against themselves. They have done nothing to deter crime in high crime areas, but want to sic the feds on people to protect themselves.

Has anyone seen this mentioned among those who have died? I saw that they died of natural causes - I have not seen this...

Nearly 140 officers were injured during the assault, and two Capitol Police officers died after the attack after confronting rioters – Brian Sicknick died following two strokes, and Howie Liebengood died by suicide. Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department officer Jeffrey Smith also died by suicide.

Yes. I remember hearing about the 2 suicides but never heard any details. Sicknick was in the news for quite some time.

If only they were as vigorous in prosecuting rioters. But their victims were just ordinary citizens, so who cares.

Good. Breaking into the center of the United States Government is a serious issue. I'd be upset if the Feds were laissez faire about the incident.

Hopefully it will deter other low information people from doing the same.
