This was the long term goal of the Defund the Police movement. They want to demoralize and get rid of the local police so they can create a national police force which will enforce whatever unconstitutional nonsense democrats in the federal government want to enforce upon the American people. They do this under the veil of finding the capitol rioters yet they never did this to the leftist insurrectionists that rioted at the White House and were planning to charge the barricades and overtake the White House nor did they do this to arrest and prosecute any of the leftwing terrorists that burned, murdered and assaulted people across the nation last summer. The ten to twenty year plan democrats have for this is to have these capitol police officers start finding and arresting anyone that disagrees with them. The leftists supporting this have to remember that when Mao took over, the people that he began arresting and executing were the intellectuals and revolutionaries that helped him take over. If the democrats ever completely took over and achieved their communist agenda, it's the liberals that helped put them there that are going to be the ones that these capitol police officers are going to be hunting down, arresting, prosecuting, and putting away for sedition and treason. Red America won't be considered the greatest threat.

This is being done "to investigate threats to congressional members" and for "enhanced security for Members of Congress outside of the National Capitol Region"

Congress members want to expanding their reach to protect themselves, meanwhile they don't want ordinary citizens to be able to protect themselves.

Will the new and improved capitol police be Biden's* storm troopers or Pelosi's?

I remember when CBP BP sent their BORTAC to Portland to deal with the rioters and arsonists attacking the federal court house, you lefty went nuts and Nasty Nancy called those federal agents “stormtroopers”

Remember that or do you have selective short term memory loss?

This is coming. First they'll be asked to assist the local police consult, give them some resources then they will be taking over local cases completely.

That being said I'm sure many joined the Capitol Police because they thought it would be more prestigious and they wouldn't be chasing muggers in drug infested neighborhoods. They thought it would a cushier police job. That being said would existing capital police accept a transfer?

No. It isn’t.

It’s a response to increased threats against lawmakers. Maybe if you could actually read the article you’d know that.

Capitol Police still sees more action than most American cities. Remember, US Capitol is in DC and DC is known for high crimes

Do the capital police back up the DC patrol cops with regularity or do things like shootings, drug deals spill over on to capitol property that often?

If that’s the case then we can wait till Republicans are in control of the government to do all the hires, no? I mean there’s no real reason a police force should be created on a hyper partisan basis, amirite?
