Good, we should have left a LONG time ago.

Hopefully it is not to make room for another "much needed mission", like Haiti.

Afghan military: US left Bagram Airfield at night, didn't tell new commander

I knew we were pulling out and the Afghan commander didn't. This sounds like the same type of fake new President Trump faced for 4 years.

"Officially" lol

Obama did send troops into Syria, invasion of a foreign country, that is a fact.

Read what I said. Obama did not start the war in Syria. Trump did not start the war in Yemen. Yet both contributed to the blood shed.

Estimated amount of direct Afghanistan and Iraq war costs that the United States has debt-financed as of 2020: $2 trillion.

Estimated interest payments on that $2 trillion so far (based on a higher-end estimate of interest rates): $925 billion.

Estimated interest costs by 2030: $2 trillion.

Estimated interest costs by 2050: $6.5 trillion.

THE WARS END. THE COSTS DON'T:

Amount Bilmes estimates the United States has committed to pay in health care, disability, burial and other costs for roughly 4 million Afghanistan and Iraq veterans: $1.6 to $1.8 trillion.
The population of Afghanistan is 38 million.

American taxpayers could've given $2 trillion to Afghans. Everyone would've got $52,631. That would've been enough to buy a house, food, car and live happily ever after.

The Trump fan base applauded the agreement/ withdrawal of troops.

It appears the Biden Admin chose to honor the agreement made by the Trump Admin.
This is why you aren't hearing a peep out of the Trump zealots.

Biden followed through on Trump's promise and now they know they have nowhere to go with their criticism of Biden. He just did what Trump had already suggested.

My thoughts on it? It was a huge strategic mistake when Trump proposed it and that has not changed now, with Biden completing his wishes. We should have kept our base of operations there permanently. Not all that much different from the bases we have kept in Germany since WWII, except that this base was far more important.

While I disagree with George Bush on many things that he says, I agree with him on this about the withdrawal: "...I think the consequences are going to be unbelievably bad."
