It's a class action lawsuit and Trump is the most prominent plaintiff, but it's on behalf of all those banned from social media. I'm actually quite fascinated by the argument they're using, that social media is a public good, kind of like a utility, and thus subject to civil rights protections.

I'm interested to hear the courts weigh in on that question. I would think if Trump wins, it would be a big blow to the tech industry in general, allowing the government to de facto take control of it. This is something I'd expect Democrats to do more than Republicans, honestly. It's quite anti-corporate, undermining their control over their own companies.

When OP can't even find a CNN or NYT source to bash Trump with........you know the holes in this 'story' are bigger than the grand canyon.

Again, what was the Tweet or FB post he made to get ban. All I hear : " he broke the rules" Can somebody post it? if FB or Tweeter can't provide it or back it up then this is a conspiracy by powerful companies and Trump has every right to sue them.

Saying to his followers that he won't attend the inauguration is not a crime or breaking any rule. Telling his 75 million voters that they have a strong voice for the future is not a crime or against any rule.

Again, can anybody put the tweets that got him ban? Nobody in the left media has them for you libs to copy and paste? NYT? msnbc? Cnn? the atlantic? LA Times? Huff Post? nobody has the alleged "tweets" or FB remarks?

Didn't KAP sued the NFL because he accused them of conspiracy of all the owners not giving him a job and the left supported him 100%? why is this different? Nobody has a right to work in the NFL, WHY are libs doing a back pedaling?

His “lawsuit†is ridiculous. He repeatedly violated their terms of service and got booted.

Kaepernick, Reid, and the NFL reached a settlement of ~10 million. Much less than their salaries would have been over the years they lost. The problem they had was that they were mediocre players for their positions and it can't be proven conspiracy was the problem. Kaep had a couple good years but declined quickly. Rather than fight it out they settled.

I wonder if Trump would take a settlement in the class action?

Ah, but that's part of this brilliant piece of legal art - the very fact that there are TOS is a crime gaianst the First Amendment. Seriously, this is lifted ad verbatim from the suit:

Quote:
Neither Plaintiff nor Putative Class Members were free to decline the speech restrictions imposed by Facebook in its TOS if they wished to use the Facebook platform. Use of its platform was expressly conditioned on agreeing to these restrictions, or User access was denied
Facebook had the nerve, the cheek, the audacity - nay, the sheer gall - to set up conditions on how you can use their infrastructure. This made Former Guy very sad, because if an infrastructure for communication exists at all, obviously he has a right to use it as he sees fit.

Anyway, this is the usual sad low-energy stuff - his lawyers are either friends or 3rd-rank ambulance chasers. An attempt at grabbing headlines and get the rubes to cough up a bit of cash, again.

I don't know who said that he's reached the Fat Elvis stage of ex-presidency, and while that's cruel - it's not wrong.

Kap contracts was expired. He didn't want to re-sign for less with the 49ers which offered him a contract as a back-up. He sued the whole NFL because he said they black ball him (agree or not) the left supported him when nobody has a right to get a contract in the NFL. If your contract expires and the NFL doesn't want you, nobody has a right to work in the NFL. Well, that is what the left and the liberals at ESPN were saying for years because that fits their political agenda.

Then the same libs come here and say Trump doesn't have a right to sue when it's obviously he is getting black ball by these social media companies. They flip flop like crazy.

Like a 30-year old wearing his high-school letterman jacket, reliving the glory days. Kinda sad. I mean - considering who it is, not very sad, but still...

In his case, he was a serviceable backup QB and probably would have been hired if not for the controversy. He was nothing very special... lots of backup QBs with his skill set. However, having had a prior superbowl appearance and thus a bit of a following, he probably would have edged a few lesser names out if there was no controversy. So he had a point.

I'm all for Trump suing. It's what he does. I'm no fan of the tech giants so if they get taken down a peg, all's the better. If Trump loses, which he probably will when they rule that these are private entities with the right to interpret and enforce their terms of service as they see fit, then he will look like an idiot.
