The goal is to make social media public utilities available to all.

Can you imagine a phone company monitoring your calls and cutting off your service because they didn't like your politics?

It’s not an equal comparison though. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram have a collective monopoly over modern electronic free speech and getting your message out. The vast majority of The United States uses one of these platforms. It would be like banning someone from the newspapers a decade ago. They also didn’t apply their logic to ban him equally, it was politically motivated, and the reasoning to ban him was pretty sketchy.
If certain companies have become too monopolistic they can be split up. We do have laws for that but Congress may need to update them. I’d rather do that then have the gov start regulating the content.

This litigation has no chance of succeeding.

Could be a landmark case. It's not really about Trump himself, others have been banned. Merkel also expressed concern over twitter censorship. The Supreme Court needs to make a ruling on this. We have before us a new phenomenon of the social media becoming a public utility. How much personal power should Jack Dorsey have?

Another important issue here is the FCC Fairness Doctrine which was revoked and we've seen the degeneration of news reporting that ensued. Legislators need to take another look at this. People should approach this in the interest of truth and fairness, not partisanship. Also the lack of trust in the media has led to problems disseminating information in an emergency (eg pandemic).

Agreed about MSM. The right whines about their loss. Sorry. The number of fraudulent votes did not change anything. Run a better person next time.

What may well have changed the result was 95% of the msm actively promoting Biden. Does not matter for the partisans. Does matter in the middle.

"I don't always get banned from Twitter and Facebook but when I do it's a pretty good indication I was right and they couldn't handle it." ~ Donald J. Trump

Don't be so hard on the left, they act as they do and vote how they do out of their ignorance. Pity them

It eats him up inside that he can't use Twitter to get in the news cycle, doesn't it? Good.

As usual, Trump is actually doing something to defend our freedoms.

the first amendment argument has already been tried and failed multiple times challenging social media bans/suspensions. there's nothing currently put forth by trump to make one think the results will be any different

IMO this is just trump trying to stay in the spotlight, play to his core supporters and/or use as a contribution opportunity.

just a big slice of meh.
