The guy gets applause for Hamilton, where he takes white historical figures and has them played by black and brown actors. OK. Fine. I liked Hamilton as much as anybody. It was a good play, and it worked.
But now, he writes a play about hispanic culture, and gets excoriated about the Latino actors not having dark enough skin?
WTF have we become? China, Russia, and all of our other adversaries are laughing at how ridiculous we have become. Do we really not have more important issues to worry about?
Instead of apologizing, would it really be so wrong of him to say, "Out of all the actors that tried out for the play, we picked the ones with the most talent, who fit the roles we were casting. This is what we ended up with."?
Go ask any Latino kid in Washington Heights what his favorite movie is. I guarantee you the answer will be Scarface 99% of the time. Every kid up there wants to be Tony Montana (played by an Italian American) and the girls all want to be Michelle Pfeiffer, the hot blonde girlfriend of the Narco kingpin.
I don't understand the "Left". First they demanded that we see all people as the same, that skin tone meant nothing but now they go on and on about black skin, brown skin and white skin. Don't they realize that skin tone is only skin deep and we should all be more concerned by the content of someones character? Heck we learned these lesson in the 1960's by watching Star Trek where the best person for the job got the job.
Just like George Zimmerman the latino who doesnt even speak english as his first language, considered 'white' to create an entire narrative of white vs black.
