I find it amazing that only a few seem to think thay the war against Iraq has made us safer, yet there is not more of an outcry against Bush for screwing the economy.

I think that money could have been spent on space research. We have many conservatives that believe a large defense budget is good for the country. Because what normally goes into the military will eventually come back to the civilian. However, that was then and now is now. We are in a different era and war machine will not be what gives us an unlimited fuel supply that is renewable and clean. War machine will not give us the cures to diseases that plague us.

And space research would? I would be for putting the money into the space program, if the space progam was operated by the Department of Defense! Imagine the possibilities!

Don't forget that it was also Churchill and Eisenhower who put the Shah in power anyway -- they did, for the purpose of re-sacking the nationalized oil of Mohammed Mossadegh, take Iran's DEMOCRATIC president from power.

Such hypocricy on the side of Americans -- it's complete self-interest.

My guess is that people have given up and are just looking forward to 1-20-09. I know for me I think we're in so far deep and it's led to a sense of learned helplessness on my part. Knowing that Bush will be gone (not soon enough for me) leads to some hope.
