Veering dangerously off topic here, but given my experience on both sides of the Atlantic I would much prefer to have paid into the system for years and not get an unexpected bill that might run into the hundreds of thousands. If you have the spare cash lying around to pay for unexpected costs, good for you. Most people don't.

You're one of these people that seems to think that people who want universal free at the point of service healthcare don't understand how taxes work.

BLM keep putting their foot in their mouths! https://twitchy.com/gregp-3534/2021/...hjDjn3agzQ5T0M (Black Lives Matter released a lengthy statement in support of Cuba’s dictatorship as well as blaming the United States for the nation’s woes.

Here’s the opener where they say the embargo is “undermining Cuban’s right to choose their own government” and that’s “at the heart of Cuba’s current crisis” ( MY OP NO surprise )

Well you brought it up. You wrote: "Free higher education, one of the highest rates of doctors per 1000 citizens and free healthcare". If that isn't about Cuba then it's off topic.

In our system if you can't pay a medical bill is call a write off for the hospital and put you on Medicaid. For the majority of us We like our private healthcare. You won't have much cash laying around if your taxes are high and it's too expensive to hire you to work.

Well if you do understand taxes then you would know is not free. We all pay for it in higher taxes and higher cost of living which makes running a business more expensive. You think if you don't get a medical bill but pay higher taxes and a higher cost of living and a lesser quality of health that's better. That's 1 step forward and 2 steps backwards.

6 million? it says: " Cuba had $6 billion in debt canceled in 2011". That's 1 year. I wish you would read reports properly and learn the difference between millions to billions.

here is another report:

The problem is the Cuban regime.

They are free to buy stuff from any other country they want to. BTW the embargo on American companies selling food and medicine to Cuba ended 20 years ago. But why would a commie paradise need to buy anything from the USA?
