Totally wrong. Space exploration is perhaps one of the most fascinating things our species is doing. We could colonize the upper atmosphere of Venus, by simply having a base that floats using a large balloon, but we wouldn't be able to see much. Mars, but there's not much atmosphere. Titan might be a good choice down the road when we can travel faster.
A good starting point would be the Artemis project, to colonize a deep crater on the Moon's surface.
I have a relative that is such a socialist. When Branson made his recent trip to space I thought it was a terrific step towards progress in science, humanity and not to mention all the nicely paid jobs that were created to make the flight happen. All he saw was a capsule full of EGO. UGH there is no helping some people.
Like holding people down on earth is really going to improve the well being and outcome for the bottom rung of society. I wonder what spent has-beens like him said about people leaving Europe for the new world centuries ago...
This may be the only time ever that I agreed with him, and not with you, Andy.

At 4 ft 11 inches, if he climbed a step ladder it would be outer space for his head.
I think Branson had scientist running experiments on his flight. During the pre flight hype they gave the bios on the crew and what they would be doing.
One of the big things with these trips is the vehicle is reusable and turnaround time which means they would want to make it as maintenance free and dependable as possible. After every trip I'm sure they're noting the condition and what's holding up and what isn't. Just like cars they have to be actually be in consumers hands for a year or two before they know what needs repair, replacement and redesign. I understand NASA's safety concerns but with all it's resources the turn around time on the shuttle wasn't there.
Evolution of the sciene is from time and experience, practical real world use and not a wind tunnel.

Reich isn't saying what your comment alludes to.
He's specifically saying Bransons sub orbital vanity jaunt isn't exactly progress. SpaceX goes into space, Virgin Galactic reproduced the X program testing from the 1950s, and it's pretty close to the altitude the U2 and SR-71 flew at.
